Property Description

Welcome to the Happy Dragon. Backpackers Hostel, your happy home in Beijing! Our hostel has been opening for 7 years, we have established a great reputation as being one of Beijing best hostels, offering everything a guest needs and more!

All rooms are cleaned daily and are well-maintained, with reading lamps, bed curtains, lockers in the dorms and drawers/cupboards/hangers/shower rails. You can use hot/cold air-conditioners and free extra blankets or a heater if you need. We have a 'quiet policy' for late at night so you can sleep comfortably as, although it's a fun hostel, we still know our guests need a good night's sleep.

All rooms feature ensuite western-style bathrooms with 24hr hot showers and free towels, linen, shampoo and body wash.

We offer a choice of American, English or Continental-style breakfasts. Our restaurant has Chinese and Western food menus and there is a no-smoking policy in our restaurant.

There is free Wi-Fi throughout the premises as well as web access in the lobby, featuring headphones, microphones, webcams, USB connections – and Facebook when it’s available! We also offer free internet connection sockets in every room.

Overall, a great find! Close enough to a metro stop that is convenient to get to many tourist locations. Bed was softer than most Chinese hostels. It can be a bit tricky to find (and a little scary to get to at night if you are a single female), but once there it is a pretty good place to crash at night. Because of the location and great price, I'd stay here again. Booking tours through them is way too expensive, just do it yourself and save some money! Funky smell in bathroom, but not too bad.

Wonderful place! The location is FANTASTIC - very close to Tian'anmen Square and other famous sites in Beijing. There was one or sometimes even two policemen sitting along the side road between the main road and the hostel at all times so it felt pretty safe. The room is small but does the job. The towels and sheets are clean. The bathroom was a little dirty, not from mold or anything but just from normal use. We loved it and it definitely made our trip to Beijing better!

Everything was great for just staying for the night. The staff was very competent. They were efficient with room assignments even if it was last minute. Unfortunately, The athmosphere was heavily lacking, we only saw an oversized table where we can sit in the lobby, but it’s not very convivial. A place to chill/living room would add so much. A kitchen/cafe/bar, even more.

Not very clean and not great quality of facilities, but the staff are extremely friendly and helpful! Don't expect a luxury experience, but it gets the job done.

Hard to find and located in an industry area where you had to go through a dark alley to find it at night. Half the staff spoke bad English but was very helpful! It’s not a hostel feeling at all, so if you want a private room this is the place. Nice bed and sheets but not clean other than bed (hairs all over the floor, small rug super dirty). Close to Wangfujing (20 min walk to center) and cheap for a private room, good for couples! (Don’t have to walk alone). Didn’t see any guest during my 2n.

The staff and the room was very nice for the most part. However, the hallways smelled like piss and the bathroom door in my room didn’t lock.

This place was really hard to find and their map location is incorrect. We luckily found someone who spoke English to call them and even he had trouble finding it after talking to them. There isn’t really any atmosphere at all. Just the front desk and the rooms. They also gave us a room with 2 twin beds when we had requested a double bed. We did do their Great Wall tour which was actually really worth it! It included breakfast and lunch and the tour guide spoke great English.

What a slum! It's changed a lot for the worse since the description on here - there is no bar or even basic common room (there's one 4-seat table in a tight nook). It's a huge pain to find because it's surrounded by obstructive construction. We booked a double bed ensuite, but it had two single beds we had to push together. When I mentioned this to the main employee, he just offered to push them together for us. He had the personality of a dead fish and seemed to hate his job and customers.Dirty

Stayed here with friends in a triple room. The place was old and run down and badly needed renovation. Toilet was dirty as well. No convenience store or restaurant nearby. Only good thing is that its close to a subway station and the lady staff speaks English and was friendly. No social atmosphere as well.
