The positives are that the staff were friendly, the dorm was spacious and the breakfast was welcome. However....it's dirty. Soaked toilet rolls lie around for days as does accumulated litter. Even basic maintenance is avoided. Shower doors, cistern tops, mangled locker doors, missing slats on shower bench, one cup in kitchen. Whoever owns it needs to put some hours in.

When me and my friend saw the reviews of this hostel, we thought it couldn't be THAT bad. We even thought it might be a fun experience to live 'in the dirt' for some time. It wasn't. Seriously, don't go there (except maybe if you're really poor and there is nothing else in the same price range). The rooms are dirty, there is old garbage behind the beds, some guy's tablet was stolen, most of the showers are broken (or cold), hand dryers are broken. I don't think they clean or fix things at all.

Hatters Hostel was appalling. The duvets were black, the beds had hairs in them. The building was filthy and stank of stale alcohol. Overall an unloved, uncared for hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful and I felt sorry for them. I left after 10 minutes and asked for a refund.

DON'T DO IT! You're better than this!! The place is NASTY. Dirty, cold, broken windows, mysterious ~something~ on dorm room floor (even though I checked in bang on 2pm after my room had been "cleaned"), no character, didn't feel safe, I couldn't stay; I was going to see my fave band that night but know I wouldn't have enjoyed the gig at all leaving my stuff unattended there. Staff weren't surprised when I said I wanted a refund - must happen a lot? I wouldn't let a homeless person stay here.

I and two of my friends stayed for three nights in a room for 10 people. Ice water showers and pitiful conditions. We spent £ 207 in all, not a little for a hostel. The position is very good but hygiene is scarce. The pool table has slats. Broken sinks, no hair dryer, no towels, bad general condition. Breakfast staff very kind.

Absolutely f***ing nasty place to be. Garbage all over the dorms. Broken beds with sharp coils sticking out of them. Broken showers and disgusting, moldy facilities. F***ing wild ass dude nearly jumped a guy for stealing his socks in the dorm (I guess he lives there and scares the sh*t out of anyone that sleeps there) STAY AWAY FROM ALL COST!

Couldn’t even stay in the hostel, ended up having to stay with friends. It was filthy and falling apart. Our bedroom window was broken so our room was freezing, bed sheets had makeup on, the walls were stained and the drawers were full of rubbish. The sinks in the toilets didn’t work and there were no locks on the bathroom doors meaning literally anyone could walk in on you having a shower. We didn’t feel safe and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Staff lovely but owners clearly don’t care.

Just imagine the worst hostel ever. Now this place is worse. So like the pictures will fool you, its not that pretty. And the hygiene: I really dont think this place has ever been cleaned properly. Okay so: the showers do only have cold water, the toilet sounds like some kind of machine when flushing, all the lockers where small plus they where either used or broken. The elevator doesnt work - shocker... the room was cold and I heard sounds from a hole in the floors - I think it was a mouse.....
