The common area could be more comfortable. Currently anything longer than a short sit leaves one aching. Could use better lighting over the sinks in shower area. Overall the hostel is not a bad stay. The kitchen area is a definite plus.

Wonderful hostel in the ‘new town’ of Edinburgh. Lovely spacious dorms with individual lockers and separate bathroom and shower facilities. Towels were included and so was a pretty good breakfast including cereal, fresh bread rolls, fresh eggs and fruit! Would highly recommend however this is not a party hostel and wasn’t as busy as other hostels around which had included pub crawls etc...

I had a very nice stay at Haystack Hostel and would recommend it to others. Really enjoyed having the curtain across at the bed for privacy. I think they could a few more amenities, such as hooks for clothes, our soft cushions in the common area. Otherwise very nice place to stay.

The cutest and cleanest hostel I have stayed in, extremely central. Very warm and cosy. Not a party hostel but a hostel that will make you feel at home. Great kitchen facilities and a free breakfast!

Decent place to stay for a night or two. Showers are very nice and spacious but there is not a dry place to put clothes, etc. The rooms are a bit cramped, but I appreciated the curtains that allowed for complete darkness at night. There’s a light and outlet for each bed as well but no shelf to put things on. The location is perfect! Quiet but right in the center of things! Overall, not bad for the price.

Right when you get there they give you a tour of the whole place. And they make a free breakfast every morning. It really shows they care about the traveler. Very quiet, relaxed atmosphere in the hostel. Biggest hostel showers I have ever seen and clean! Beds are private with a curtain across. Room is a wee bit cramped with the lockers and can't fit any bags under the bed. Very close to Waverly Station. So perfect if you have an early morning train or bus to catch. Bit of a walk to the Castle.

Small cozy hostel, very clean amenities. Spacious bathrooms and breakfast provided is great! Rooms are a bit too cramped and hostel had a lot more guests of an older age bracket.

Good quiet hostile for those that want a peaceful place to sleep. Not much space in rooms nor is there much of a community area.

Haystack was great! The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were kept really clean. I guess the only complaint would be that the rooms were quite cramped. But other then that we had a great stay!

Absolutely fantastic location and facilities. Cannot recommend this hostel highly enough for cleanliness. Showers are always clean and provide enough space inside the cubicle. Kitchen table is a tad hard to navigate when lots of people in the room but kitchen facilities are so clean, modern and well maintained.
