Property Description

- Please note that we are genuine non-profit backpackers guesthouse for 'members only' with some good vibe but also some limitations.
- We accept other non-profit youth hostel membership cards and you can also get your membership card upon arrival (5 euros.year) or online at:
- We are on the third floor, with no lift. So, to our great regret, our hostel is unfortunately not convenient for disabled persons or persons with limited physical abilities.
- We don't accept minors under 18, even if travelling with elders.
- We use 'ecologic cleaning' so our linen is not flashy white but it's clean and also safer for your health than with chemical cleaning
- We have only 3 showers and 1 WC for 15 guests max and cannot build more unfortunately. It is usually ok.

Dear guests,

Hello Marseille is offering a genuine traveller's accommodation 'for members only' to enjoy our great place and activities at the very heart of the historical center. Located in the 'Vieux-Port', you benefit from an exceptional access all the main cultural and entertainment sites like our famous 'Calanques' national parc. Our charming typical 19th century haussmanian building (marble floor, high ceiling with nice moldings, large rooms) let's you discover and feel the local way of life.

Hello Marseille is a community project dedicated to sustainable development, social entrepreneurship and youth cooperation. We welcome young social entrepreneurs from everywhere in the world, and give them the opportunity to spend several months “learning-by-doing” as co-managers of a “real life” activity.

Moreover, we operate another project closeby, the 'Sharehouse' (, with another backpacker's guesthouse and soon (2018) a local organic kitchen, a French school, and a project development space that is perfect to connect to the hectic life of the city.

You just finished a book, ended your holiday trip .... A library is at your disposal to share books you liked or will not use anymore. Great. Probably the best people I have met in a hostel. The only caveat is that there is only one toilet to be shared within more than 10 people.

I had a great stay in Hello Marseille. The staff were so very friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed the fact that they use environmentally friendly cleaning products and the hostel is very clean! It works! Keep up the good job!

Good hostel, very close to the metro. Friendly, helpful staff. As they say, it is on the third floor and the stairs up to it are a bit precarious, loose tiles and what not.

    Very Good

Good location close to Vieux port, security is a bit lacking however having to buzz to enter the hostel each time and all rooms are open - thankfully there are suitcase sized lockers (BYO lock) so that’s good. The hostel is pretty run-down, but the amazing staff and guests and great atmosphere make up for this and they are very friendly and helpful.

The staff was friendly but that was the most positive aspect of the place. My room had old facilites, bedsheet I got was not matching to the size of the matres, only 1 rather bad toilet, breakfast was bread and coffee quite disappointing. I have traveled from Philippines to Mexico several times in Spain therfore I can compare it to other hostels . I wouldn’t go back even it was a great value for the money.

Well I don't know about Hello Marseille because they shifted me to their sister hostel called the sharehouse. The sharehouse was super difficult to find and really tucked away in an unknown basement . The bathroom do not have bolt and cleanliness is a miss. staff was helpful and probably the only good thing about the place

BED BUGS Initially I found the hostel to be what you would expect for the price. Nothing too fancy, but nothing terrible as well. That ended when after laying on my bed I realized the entire bed was crawling with bed bugs. They were large enough where they clearly were there for a while and I found some on 3 of the 4 beds in the room. I pointed this out immedietely to the staff and they were kind enough to refund my payment, but I suffered several bites and i had to fumigate my clothes.

First off they make you buy a membership that you will most likely never use. Totally waste of 5 euros. I got more out of other Hostels and paid less. Donest make sense. This place had only two showers that barely work and one toilet for everyone with no sink. There are no locks on the room doors. The beds are old and the sheets didn't feel clean at all. This place just felt hella dirty and janky. Don't stay here.
