Property Description

- Please note that we are genuine non-profit backpackers guesthouse for 'members only' with some good vibe but also some limitations.
- We accept other non-profit youth hostel membership cards and you can also get your membership card upon arrival (5 euros.year) or online at:
- We are on the third floor, with no lift. So, to our great regret, our hostel is unfortunately not convenient for disabled persons or persons with limited physical abilities.
- We don't accept minors under 18, even if travelling with elders.
- We use 'ecologic cleaning' so our linen is not flashy white but it's clean and also safer for your health than with chemical cleaning
- We have only 3 showers and 1 WC for 15 guests max and cannot build more unfortunately. It is usually ok.

Dear guests,

Hello Marseille is offering a genuine traveller's accommodation 'for members only' to enjoy our great place and activities at the very heart of the historical center. Located in the 'Vieux-Port', you benefit from an exceptional access all the main cultural and entertainment sites like our famous 'Calanques' national parc. Our charming typical 19th century haussmanian building (marble floor, high ceiling with nice moldings, large rooms) let's you discover and feel the local way of life.

Hello Marseille is a community project dedicated to sustainable development, social entrepreneurship and youth cooperation. We welcome young social entrepreneurs from everywhere in the world, and give them the opportunity to spend several months “learning-by-doing” as co-managers of a “real life” activity.

Moreover, we operate another project closeby, the 'Sharehouse' with another backpacker's guesthouse and soon (2018) a local organic kitchen, a French school, and a project development space that is perfect to connect to the hectic life of the city.

* 24/7 reception & security. Multilingual staff, no curfew
* online booking and reservation
* accommodation in 5-6 persons large dorms with lockers
* community breakfast supported by travellers' donations and the hostel (French baguette, marmalade, tea & coffee)

Cozy lounge
If you are looking for a cozy sofa to read, chat with other travelers, relax or watch the last news from your home place on our large tv screen, this is the perfect place. A large balcony will even let you enjoy morning sun and a view on the close 'vieux port' (also used as a 'smokers area')

Internet service
We offer you free internet service 24h a day, with flat screen, headset, webcam and skype. If you have your own laptop, you will easily find our wifi connection available in the lounge or rooms.

A fully equipped guest kitchen is at your disposal in our premises. Cook your food, store it in our big fridge, make yourself feel at home :)

'Free use' library
You just finished a book, ended your holiday trip .... A library is at your disposal to share books you liked or will not use anymore. Leave and recycle your books, maps, tourist guides, for the benefit of other traveller friends coming next, the same way you enjoyed using the ones left for you before.

Following hospitality tradition between travelers, we reserve a free bed for the members of organisations, communities, artists or project teams we support. (one night.pers max in order to have everybody benefit from it).

Kolkhoze box (lost&found)
You liked our place and its spirit? Help us maintain our concept of a 'travellers' haven'. Give back to the community what the community gave you :o) leave a few euros to better the breakfast for the next coming travellers, leave in the kolkhoze box objects you don't need anymore for your trip but that could be useful to others.

Help & info: our staff can help you with information regarding your stay in Marseille and other towns in the region. City maps, tours and other info available at the reception. We also have a guest-book where you can read/write down your best tips to enjoy Marseille. View House Rules

Good little hostel in a great location. It was a little difficult to find as there is no sign but it is opposite Bistrot 13B, just press the buzzer and they let you in.

Loved my stay in an environment with a bohemian vibe with a lot considered to sustain a backpacking lifestyle which protects the environment as well as promote camaraderie among the staff and resident who accepts all who walk-in. Stayed at the guesthouse with my nephew who also had a great time. You can also stay at another similar place nearby owned and staffed by the same group with Olivier and Cedric called the Sharehouse. Will come back surely when I skip Paris and stay longer in Marseille.

The location is fantastic, most of the facilities are pretty good and the staff are really helpful and fun to hang out with. The hostel facilities are a little worn, my sheets were old and the slat under my mattress was snapping but everything else made up for it! Would definitely recommend and stay again!

    Very Good

This hostel overall was good. The location is good for exploring the city and the atmosphere was nice when I got there. The staff are really hit and miss; the boys were so lovely and always up for a chat while the girl was super rude to all guests and just generally unwelcoming. The lockers in the room are big but flimsy, but the kitchen had good fascilities

There’s a weird creepy vibe here that I can’t describe... The staff are mostly friendly but not very service-oriented, which I understand, since they’re all volunteers. The rooms have no locks and therefor anyone can walk in. The sheets are probably ”clean” but they’re old and yellow from age and should be changed imo. Top bunk shares an extension cord that sits on bottoms’ bed so bring a long charger. You do get free breakfast and you do get ideal location

Not a bad hostel but not the best. The staff were nice enough and the kitchen, rooms themselves and wifi was good. The breakfast was a nice touch. However, the security was completely lacking, anyone could enter my only the buildings but rooms too. Could do with an overall deep clean, particularly the showers. Good lockers though. The location was the best part, 1 min walk to the Port.

Staff + guests were really kind and fun. Despite my low review I had a good time here. My main concern is the security. Anyone who rings at the door is let into the hostel and there is not always desk staff to monitor the door. The dorms themselves are left open so anyone can come in, and the lockers are not very secure, even with a lock. The floors and showers were not very clean, and there was only one toilet for the entire hostel, which was small, hot, and smelly. Not great, but adequate.

Myself and my friend booked to stay in this hostel, firstly we were deeply disappointed when we were forced to enroll for a hostel membership for 5 euros each. And it was very hot during the month of June and there is no air conditioner, added to that there are no room keys given, we were sleeping with doors unlocked, security is a big question Mark. I wouldn't be going back to this hostel nor would i be recommend this to anyone.

Worst hostel i have ever been. First of all you pay 5 euros additional when you arrives to be a member. I could not sleep at night as there was no air conditioner in a room with 6 people. It is worst place to stay especially during summer as you cant even breath. There is only one toilet and two bad bathrooms. Some of the staff is really rude and strange. And they put some of my things to garbage from fridge(a closed wine also). Only good thing is location.
