Two guest-kitchens and a set of lounges on the hostel floor with a playroom provide a place to cook, relax and meet other travelers. View House Rules

Make your hostel stay in Reykjavík that bit more luxurious at Hlemmur Square. We're a hotel and hostel in one – ideal if you can't choose between the two! The hostel is on the third and fourth floors, while on the first floor you’ll find a bar and a restaurant with budget-friendly meals. When you’re not sipping a fine IPA, hang out and meet other travellers in one of our two colourful lounges, complete with pool tables we've placed there for you to buddy up with new pals.

We’re in downtown Reykjavík in the lively Hlemmur neighbourhood, where you’ll find plenty of museums, restaurants and bars. A stay here is a great chance to get up close and personal with some of the city’s best sights. The modern cathedral Hallgrímskirkja is a 9-minute walk away, and the unique Icelandic Phallological Museum (Google what that means!) is just across the road. Reykjavík Airport is only an 8-minute bus ride away, while getting to Keflavík International Airport takes around an hour and 45 minutes on public transport.

Rooms and Dorms

Back at the hostel, discover rooms created for chill-out time. Choose between twin or multi-bed private rooms, or go for a mixed or female-only dorm if you’re saving cash. All have lockers, free linen and custom-made noise-free beds (no more creaking as you turn over!), and they come with blackout curtains for a good night's sleep even during Iceland’s famous midnight sun.

Extras and activities

Cooking up something delicious for tonight’s dinner? You’ve got free rein in our two guest kitchens. Feed other hungry guests if you've made too much in the lounge or common games room. The 24-hour reception staff will give you a free city map for exploring, or you can download your route using our free Wi-Fi. Our hostel has 24-hour keycard access (meaning no curfew). Hop in the elevator up to your room when you're headed to bed.

Great hostel, perfect location in the city close to restaurants and stores. Supermarket just in front and bus stop 10 just outside. Daniel in the front desk was the best. Very attentive and nice. Beds were comfortable and easy To navigate. Highly recommended.

The best hostel that I have stayed so far in my life! :) This is my first time staying at a hostel with common area inside the room and the location was perfect! Best thing about this hostel was a staff. My phone died after going to spa and I was struggling so much to get my luggage from my travelmates and a staff named Joanna helped me a lot with contacting and meeting them since she gave me her phone to send Dms and to the meeting point. Without her, I wouldn't been able to get my stuffs:)

Hlemmur Square is located in the CENTER of Reykjavik so everything's walking distance from the hostel. It's next to a bus terminal, a few great restaurants, and a supermarket across the street. The famous Phallological Museum is next to the supermarket as well. Got a couple more details to share: Pro: Excellent location, friendly staff, delicious breakfast, spacious lobby, speedy wifi. Con: Messy kitchen and not-the-cleanest and most ventilated shower rooms.

Great stay, lovely place, good breakfast (considering other places in Iceland, before you leave for your morning trips) and amazingly connected to bus stop and rest groceries! Highly Recommend!

There's a reason why this is the cheapest hostel in Reykjavik. The beds are comfy but the top bunks in my room had no railings around them so you could easily fall out. The rooms are cleanish but the bathrooms and the kitchens in particular are gross. If you want the cheapest option and are not concerned about anything other than sleeping, this is a fine place but otherwise theres not much more to recommend.

Upon first appearance the hostel looks flash as but that’s all for looks! As soon as you go into the dorms levels it’s like the cleaners aren’t there! Kitchen is absolutely filthy and looks like it hasn’t been cleaned or replenished in about 12 years! Beds themselves are actually some of the best I’ve ever slept in! Staff are helpful :)

Worst hostel experience ever. Kitchen full of rubbish, food wastes, unclean dishes, totally unhygienic and chaos, so does the shared bathroom/ toilets...... However, the location is ideal and easy access to any place in REYKJAVIK
