Overview

In a 200-year-old building, Home Lisbon Hostel is a super cool base in Portugal's most vibrant city. When you're not strolling the cobbled streets, soak up some vitamin D on our patio or lounge around in our comfortable living room. Join us during the day for walking tours that survey some of the city's most interesting buildings, then come along at night for a pub crawl. Our dining room has a bar, too, so you can have a drink with your new travel buddies before partying on the famous Pink Street.

Location

We're in the famous Baixa neighbourhood, the heart of Lisbon – redesigned from scratch after an earthquake destroyed the city's historic centre in the 18th century. Take a 4-minute walk from our front door to reach the outdoor cafés in Praça do Comércio, with its iconic yellow buildings and view across the river. Our nearest metro stop, Baixa-Chiado, is a 4-minute walk away – hop on the blue or green lines to nip around the city. If you're flying into Lisbon Airport, you can reach us in 45 minutes on public transport.

Rooms and Dorms

Our dorms (mixed and female-only) all have en-suite bathrooms with a shower, and our female-only dorms also come with hairdryers to make getting ready fast and easy. All of our dorms have storage lockers for your bags, plus we've got air con to help you sleep comfortably during our hot summer months. Check into a private room if you're a light sleeper.

Extras and activities

We want to show you the best of Lisbon, so we host lots of events to immerse you in the city's history and culture. We also give out free city maps to make sure you don't get lost wandering up and down the seven hills. Foodie? Our nightly dinners are the best way to taste classic Portuguese home-cooking – lovingly made by the owner's mama. Afterwards, head to our games room or stroll uphill to the Bairro Alto, one of Lisbon's best going-out districts.

It was a really comfortable and pleasant stay. The rooms are nice and cozy. There are lockers under the bed to keep your stuff. Really close to the main attractions. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They serve cheap breakfast in the morning, which is pretty good as compared to other hostels I have been to. Special mention for the TV room to hang out and meet other people. It is filled with books and DVDs and is a great spot to meet fellow travllers or just to have a beer with your mates.

Unfortunately, for me, it was a mere drive by of a stay (a long layer between flights) but it was, as usual amazing. I was so sad to have to leave Lisbon and Home so soon. But I’ll be back for sure! Everything from Mama’s dinner to the staff, to the cleanliness of the hostel, to the comfortable rooms were fantastic. The only thing is the mattresses are a little bit uncomfortable still, but I still give Home a 10, because this place outshines every other hostel around. Love!

To put it simply, this is the only place you should ever even think about staying in Lisbon. The vibes are perfect if you’re a solo traveler, an older traveler, or a couple. I met amazing people while at Home Lisbon. The staff is wonderful and makes you feel like family. Mammas dinners are as good as everyone says they are. This place is beautiful and clean and has absolutely everything you could need. I will for sure be back.

Both the staff and the other guests were wonderful. Mamma's dinner lived up to every glowing review I had read - I ended up having it on 2 nights instead of just one! The only (minor) issue was that wifi didn't reach my room on the 4th floor and there was no other quiet place to make a call to my family.

This hostel was amazing! As a solo traveler, I often get quite nervous when arriving at a new hostel as I do not know what the people will be like. At the first dinner, I felt right at home. People made space so that I could squeeze at the table, and I befriended staff and guests alike. I felt so welcome here. Also, the hostel itself is beautiful! Wonderful rooms, wonderful common areas, EXTREMELY cozy beds. I would never stay anywhere else in Lisbon!
