Overview

In a 200-year-old building, Home Lisbon Hostel is a super cool base in Portugal's most vibrant city. When you're not strolling the cobbled streets, soak up some vitamin D on our patio or lounge around in our comfortable living room. Join us during the day for walking tours that survey some of the city's most interesting buildings, then come along at night for a pub crawl. Our dining room has a bar, too, so you can have a drink with your new travel buddies before partying on the famous Pink Street.

Location

We're in the famous Baixa neighbourhood, the heart of Lisbon – redesigned from scratch after an earthquake destroyed the city's historic centre in the 18th century. Take a 4-minute walk from our front door to reach the outdoor cafés in Praça do Comércio, with its iconic yellow buildings and view across the river. Our nearest metro stop, Baixa-Chiado, is a 4-minute walk away – hop on the blue or green lines to nip around the city. If you're flying into Lisbon Airport, you can reach us in 45 minutes on public transport.

Rooms and Dorms

Our dorms (mixed and female-only) all have en-suite bathrooms with a shower, and our female-only dorms also come with hairdryers to make getting ready fast and easy. All of our dorms have storage lockers for your bags, plus we've got air con to help you sleep comfortably during our hot summer months. Check into a private room if you're a light sleeper.

Extras and activities

We want to show you the best of Lisbon, so we host lots of events to immerse you in the city's history and culture. We also give out free city maps to make sure you don't get lost wandering up and down the seven hills. Foodie? Our nightly dinners are the best way to taste classic Portuguese home-cooking – lovingly made by the owner's mama. Afterwards, head to our games room or stroll uphill to the Bairro Alto, one of Lisbon's best going-out districts.

Great location, clean and quite dorms, friendly and awesome staff. They are super helpful and make you feel like family. Such a close and inviting atmosphere. Their walking tours and day trips are amazing. Mama's cooking and family dinners are a great way to meet people and share/join travel plans. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend!

I rarely give 10 ratings but honestly this was the BEST hostel i've EVER stayed in (and I've stayed in my fair share of hostels, most of which were good as well). Mama's dinner is a great way to meet fellow hostel travellers (particularly for us solo-travellers). The place was really clean and bathrooms were cleaned on a regular basis. The rooms were very spacious and you have a huge locker space under the bed. Lots of young fun people and a bar! Great location, great atmosphere, great trip!!!

Wow! For my first hostel experience I started with an incredible place. Had heard from others this was the place to stay for a central hub and great atmosphere but it blew me away. Couldn't fault it. Lisbon itself I probably wont visit again but the hostel I would come back for.

I had such a lovely stay at Home Lisbon. There was a mixup with my booking and they were very kind in fixing it immediately. The rooms and facilities were very clean and I felt very safe with all the locks on each floor and lockers within the rooms. Curtains on the bunks were a great plus. The staff were so friendly and helpful and Mama’s dinner was so delicious. Best of all- it was a welcoming fun atmosphere to meet other solo travelers. Would recommend to anyone coming to Lisbon!

Great place.... so much so we stayed an extra couple nights. Great mix of fun and while also being able to chill if you want. Pub crawl and family dinner are very cool.Very accommodating with getting my group of friends who booked separately into the same room. We were out until 6 am and ended up missing the Sinatra tour that they start at 11 am everyday but the front desk gave us a very detailed walk through and we were able to do it on our own. I usually don’t reviews but had to for this place

This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the nightly dinners provide a handy way to meet other guests. The hostel also offers great tours of the city every day which are perfect if you want to get a feel for the city but don't have much time.

We had the best time at Home Hostel. If you don’t go to Mamma’s dinner for 10 euro you did something wrong. We met amazing people and the staff was very helpful. Lisbon is a great city but the staff and environment made it much more accessible and enjoyable. It was one of our favorite parts about staying in Lisbon. Walking tours and Sintra tours were awesome too.
