Overview

In a 200-year-old building, Home Lisbon Hostel is a super cool base in Portugal's most vibrant city. When you're not strolling the cobbled streets, soak up some vitamin D on our patio or lounge around in our comfortable living room. Join us during the day for walking tours that survey some of the city's most interesting buildings, then come along at night for a pub crawl. Our dining room has a bar, too, so you can have a drink with your new travel buddies before partying on the famous Pink Street.

Location

We're in the famous Baixa neighbourhood, the heart of Lisbon – redesigned from scratch after an earthquake destroyed the city's historic centre in the 18th century. Take a 4-minute walk from our front door to reach the outdoor cafés in Praça do Comércio, with its iconic yellow buildings and view across the river. Our nearest metro stop, Baixa-Chiado, is a 4-minute walk away – hop on the blue or green lines to nip around the city. If you're flying into Lisbon Airport, you can reach us in 45 minutes on public transport.

Rooms and Dorms

Our dorms (mixed and female-only) all have en-suite bathrooms with a shower, and our female-only dorms also come with hairdryers to make getting ready fast and easy. All of our dorms have storage lockers for your bags, plus we've got air con to help you sleep comfortably during our hot summer months. Check into a private room if you're a light sleeper.

Extras and activities

We want to show you the best of Lisbon, so we host lots of events to immerse you in the city's history and culture. We also give out free city maps to make sure you don't get lost wandering up and down the seven hills. Foodie? Our nightly dinners are the best way to taste classic Portuguese home-cooking – lovingly made by the owner's mama. Afterwards, head to our games room or stroll uphill to the Bairro Alto, one of Lisbon's best going-out districts.

I don't usually write reviews but this place definitely needs one - you'll be amazed by how nice the people you will meet here are and especially the staff - always helpful, kind and attentive (Matilde still owes me her story and a beer :P). Very well located, no curfew and a chilled place in the heart of the city on top of everything. That's the place you need to be when travelling to Lisboa. Will definitely come back! Obrigado, guys!

One of the best hostels I have ever been! What a great place! Everybody is so welcoming and nice! I arrived in the 25 December I ate a great Christmas meal made by the great Mama that sited right beside me and I met such great people, never felt alone! The rooms are cosy, clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are clean (sometimes a little smelly) but there are several bathrooms available. Tip: reserve by their website to get free breakfast. But the best of this hostel is the people!

Mama is a lovely lady who cooks delicious meals and is supported by polite and attentive helpers. A beautifully renovated elegant place with a young crowd and long term residents. Too crowded under lockdown but would work well otherwise. Useful washer dryer facilities. €3 breakfast is good value.

Great location!. Most staff very open and welcoming At the moment with Covid, I'm sure things have changed a lot, but it's still nice vibe with all the long-term people living here. It's cozy, particularly intimate environment, you feel indeed it's your home (regardless the almost 50 people living in here) There's space everywhere, for work, chill, study, you name it.

    Very Good

    27 Dec 2020
Price for the dinner prepared by “Mamma” was 10 Euro the last time I stayed and now they charged 15 Euro, but if you are a long term resident they charge 10 euro. Not a fair system. Entry stairway way smells like cigarette smoke always and there is a sewer small on most levels from the toilets. Good central location for a short stay but you will want to leave after a few days as people live there full time & the atmosphere can get stale very quickly.
