Property Description

This is a newly built Hostel, so it's pleasantly, spotlessly clean and reassuringly solid.

It's also beautifully simple, built and decorated by the local Mayan builders and artists. Our staff is smart, incredibly helpful, conscientious and very cosmopolitan.

Chalupa sits right at the start of the town, on the road to the beach, which is an easy walk -- or you can rent a bike or catch a cab or bus right in front of the Hostel.

There are markets, rental and tour shops, and banks with ATM's nearby. We offer free Wi-Fi, a vegetarian kitchen, air conditioning at night, relaxing lounge, a huge rooftop patio.

Hostel Chalupa was perfect. It's a hostel, not a luxurious airbnb, but if you need a comfortable place to crash, with a chill vibe, or a safe place to ditch your gear while you explore tulum, I highly recommend them. It's perfectly located, the door guy is super friendly, and the bed was pretty comfy, what more can you ask for.

My friend and I loved this place, one of the best hostels we’ve ever stayed in. Cheap bike rentals, bunk beds are double beds, hot showers, beautiful pool in the center of the hostel which is cleaned daily and so refreshing, lovely staff with fantastic taste in music and makes good eggs in the morning. Great WiFi and really decent storage in the rooms for backpacks. And it’s just accross the road from a 7 eleven and a big supermarket with an awesome taco place in the parking area of that. Thanks❤️

Close enough to the beach to bike (I walked but its around 2.5 miles away) and the hostel has bikes to rent for cheap. Also close to the main strip and only 1 mile from a cenote. Staff is very helpful. Its not a great hostel to meet other travelers.

My overall opinion is positive. My initial, tired opinion was less positive, but once I met Javier, things were more comfortable. He was patient with my numerous Qs & requests. Thanks! Zero vibe at all, at least when I visited. Great if you are there to rest at night & adventure during day. Noisy road nearby. Hostel is clean & cleaned often. Some language barrier w/ staff but she's not rude, just doing her job. PLEASE swap in brighter light bulbs, room very dark. Also add racks to hang towels.

Very well priced hostel, the staff are lovely and so helpful. The double beds are such a treat after staying in a few hostels. Really relaxed hostel and the breakfast is very good. However, the hostel was quite quiet when we were there with not much going on so it’s not the most ideal place to meet fellow travelers.

    Very Good

The staff at chalupa were lovely! The bike hire was cheap- 75p a day. The double beds were greatly appreciated. Breakfast was basic and the atmosphere was pretty average. The pool wasn’t well maintained- the water was slightly green and the pool was shit one day because it was way too dirty

    Very Good

This place is a good price and walking distance to the places you’d go in town + closer to the beach than other hostels (15 minute bike ride down the street - straight). But the rooms are dark and no one hangs out there. Can’t really buy decent food there. Breakfast is average - scrambled eggs are okay, I preferred just toast. The rooms are clean and the beds are double bunk beds which is nice. Overall find if you don’t need to meet others and aren’t around much!
