Overview

Join the party at Hostel 3B! Two Sundays a month, we test the sound system on our rooftop terrace with an all-day pool party – international DJs and tequila included. Sip a cold one in the bar, head up the beer pong table or join us for a session on the Xbox in the lounge. The morning after, upload those party pics while you make the most of our free breakfast, then recover on the beach – just one block away. To keep the good vibes rolling, we even cook up a free dinner Wednesday through to Saturday.

Location

We’re in the middle of the action, just half a block from La Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue) – Playa del Carmen’s main strip for shops, bars and restaurants. The easiest way to reach us from Cancun International Airport is to arrange a shuttle – this'll have you with us in around 50 minutes. We’re an easy 2-minute walk away from the ADO bus terminal. The beach is 4 minutes away on foot if you want a paddle or a game of volleyball. Planning a day trip to snorkel on the island of Cozumel? The ferry port is 4 minutes from us.

Rooms and Dorms

If the Riviera heat gets too much, turn up the air con – it’s fitted throughout our mixed and female-only dorms. Each bunk comes with free linen and a reading lamp, and we have towels for hire at the front desk. All our rooms are en-suite too – including our quad privates. Plus, we have lockers big enough for your backpack.

Extras and activities

Our 24-hour reception is here to welcome you after a night at Coco Bongos, or if you need info about tours. At mealtimes, make dinner in our communal kitchen. If you’re with us Tuesday or Sunday, let us satisfy your appetite with our twice-weekly barbecues. Don’t forget to pick up your free city map at check in to lead you to the best mojito bar – or the nearby Mayan ruins.

Can’t rave enough about this hostel, good people, food and the “ Usual Sunday’s “ is still the best party in Playa del Carmen. I had my daughter come to Mexico for her 27th Birthday and she just loved the atmosphere and people. We will be back and that’s a promise.

The hostel location is perfect because is close for 5th av, ferry station and the ado station. You have to bring your own towel, soap and shampoo. However, I had a really great stay, the rooftop party is good. They have to improve the breakfast, the room a/c and the air extractor in the bathroom of the room 2, made a lot of noise.

Great location and very easy to get to from the ADO bus station. Staff was very nice and went above and beyond to make sure I was able to sign up for a tour that I wanted. Breakfast and dinner is a great deal and the evening entertainment was fun. I met some great people from all over the world. I would recommend to travelers looking for an affordable option right in the middle of the Playa del Carmen action!

    Fabulous

Overall I gave a high review for one reason. The combination of AC (turned on at night in the rooms) and fans (all day and night) means that sleep is actually possible here, a novelty for a hostel. The white noise and relatively cool air is great. The rooftop bar and lounge is quite nice as well. Wish there were social rooms and drinking spaces that were not on the rooftop though. Also, PLEASE allow balances to be paid with credit card!

    Fabulous

We had the private room and the air con was good! The shower head came off and the water pressure is low. I would suggest fix that and add more shelves and hooks. The room itself is good, double bed + single bed, both comfortable. Essential to close the only window when sleeping or going out, as people can look right in on top of you, and climb through, hence why I put a little lower on security. The rooftop area is amazing though. The guy that checked us in, Esau was fantastic, very charming

It’s a lovely place, different from most hostels I’ve been to.. I’ve worked at a hostel for a few months as well and the vibe here is ok. There wasn’t a very big diversity to the guests during my stay. A lot of couples and groups making it difficult to have an opportunity to connect well. Dinner was good though. It felt a little more like I was sleeping at a bar and I didn’t get the open community feel that I expect from hostels. Maybe just my bad luck. I’ll try somewhere else next time.

    Very Good

I wouldn't stay here if I came back to Playa. Not the best vibes... The oscillating fans in the rooms could have been set up better so that they don't blow directly on you all night as it got pretty cold w/ no blanket. Their 'Usual Sundays' are advertised as a big hit, but the music is the same garbage house music, with the same beat, ALL night. Positives were the locks on the room doors, free breakfast with toast, fruit, and coffee, and fairly strong wifi.

    Good

As a solo traveler, I didn't feel welcome at all. Not sure if it was because I was American, didn't speak great Spanish, didn't look like them, or what, but I definitely didn't feel welcome. There was a noticeable difference in how I was treated, compared to other guests. The first employee from this hostel to acknowledge me on a personal level was the COOK lol. He was an older guy from Argentina, super cool, and just a great guy. The music was amazing, but I would never stay here again.

Location is greAt and the hostel is very clean, but do not stay here if you would like to sleep before 1am. I was placed on the rooftop room where the dj and bar is ... there definitely should not be a room here as loud music plays from about 5pm-1am! I was left very frustrated and tired. It’s a party hostel I understand but not everyone wants to party everyday!?
