From the moment we booked, we were in contact with Zhi. She was very friendly and helpful, and allowed us to check-in later than normal due to traffic. We booked a private, 2-person tent, which was comfortable (tent + mattress = ideal ‘camping’). Everyone has their own, secure tent space, but the individual and private, 2-person tents are placed in a larger, shared room. Overall, a nice experience with good facilities. + A quick drive to the Kuala Kedah jetty!

Zhi was a brilliant host, so kind and friendly and wanting to help with anything. Comfy beds and everything was so clean. It’s a great place to just chill for a few days and breakfast is included which is always great. Definitely the best place to stay in Alor Setar!

Would definately recommend this hostel if you are staying in Alor Setar! The little tents are a great idea and sleeping in them was very comfortable. The staff was just amazing! During my stay the hostel was very quiet and I didn't meet any other travellers. But having said that I was travelling during off season and only stayed at the hostel for one night. Could easily have stayed there for longer though :)

I had an AMAZING time at Hostel Ah Wai, Hostel Ah Zhi. The hostel is really charming and located in a perfect area for travelers. Everything you need is provided and they even serve a breakfast directly from the market! The personal tents are really comfortable, providing the privacy we like once in a while after so many nights in dorms. I was the only traveler there, that why the atmosphere is lest rated, BUT one of the owner let me check in early and then come with me to show me the area.

The ambiance was very comfortable and cosy. We had very pleasant stay there. The host was very friendly and showed great hospitality. It was located at the Center of most of the attractions and there were unique old building cafes surrounding there. Highly recommended!!!

One of the most memorable and characteristic hostel in Alor Setar.Strategic location as hostel is situated at Chinatown n downtown area. Walking distance to Masjid Zahid, one of oldest mosque in Malaysia, soaked in the peaceful ambient in the evening is definitely one of the experience. Special shout out to Ah Wai n Ah Zhi, hosts that provided many cares to the guests and paid attention to all little details in hostel, like the ambient, lighting, color etc.
