The staff were great and extremely helpful. The hostel is located in a convenient location for exploring, shopping and eating. A great chilled out rooftop as well to spend the late afternoons and evenings.

We loved our stay here. Breakfast was extra but extremely good value for money. The owner was lovely and made us feel at home.

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a solid experience. The rooms get a little hot at night without AC and the bathroom smells pretty rancid. Asides from that, the facilities are great, the rooms are comfortable, and the value is good.

Nice enough hostel, some of the staff was stand-offish. Nice terrace, overall okay for a place to stay.

    Very Good

Unfortunately I experienced bed bugs too; 4-bed dorm. Manager handled it well; I wasn't charged for the accom. I understand these things can happen; I imagine presence of bed bugs would have a longer/worse effect on the business compared to the individual. For this reason I hope people still book to stay - perhaps in the private rooms, or just being vigilant of/checking your mattress/pillow/blanket if you know what to look for. The hostel is in a great location, breakfast was yum, cool rooftop

The room/hostel is very basic. The staff are nice and mean well, but they aren’t really helpful. I’m sure the construction will be done soon but it was very loud and didn’t really allow for afternoon naps when weather was really warm. No atmosphere, though. The terrace on the roof was great but not the most comfortable. If you just need a room, this place would be fine for you. But don’t expect much more.

Read the review that mentioned bed bugs. Kind of dismissed it because of the high average score. Found a bed bug on the first night. Killed him with my sandal. Did not get bitten by any others. Maybe they didn’t like my blood. The owner was using strong language (cursing) all the time and for me, that detracts from the atmosphere. And the lockers, while good for passports and money, are useless for anything like laptops as they are way too small. All in all I would not recommend this place

BED BUGS! Do not stay here. Instead of buying new mattresses they have covered them in plastic but refused to do anything about the bed bugs. The first morning I showed them the bites and they told me I got them somewhere else and brought them to Hostel Baraka. They then told me they couldn’t do any washing for me because they were “too busy”. Staff were very unhelpful and made me feel like it was my fault. Both my friend and I got them. Do not stay here!
