The location is excellent just across the walking border entrance from San Diego. The staff was amazing. A lovely couple seem to run the hostel and are fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about them. The guests in the hostel were very friendly. I made a lot of international friends there. I shall revisit this hostel

They could give more attention to detail cleaning . They where doing construction projects and I had to dust off chairs , dinner table, microwave etc . The Men & women had to use the same rest room w/ showers, that said the trash can was awful wasn't ever emptied the time I was there. Didn't like the fact that U had to get permission to use the refrigerator. Guest should hv access at all times 🤨. OTHER THAN THAT, IT WAS GREAT

The good parts of my ratings is based on as much as I can see from the outside, very unprofessional staff to take people deposits when there are no beds, and you still get charged for the full price. I'd like the website to issue a refund.

In terms of communication, there is one man (I believe his name is Jefe) who speaks English, but the woman who operates the hostel as well does not speak English. However, she is very nice and willing to help you out if you can commmunicate - use Google translate app if you have difficulty. There are lockers you can rent for $5 USD, but other than that there is not much security. That being said, I did not feel unsafe nor did I think my belongings would be stolen. You get what you pay for.

Staff was nice enough but the dorm bunks aren't available due to "construction" so I ended up paying more than I wanted to. The cleanliness left much to be desired. Short walk to the hostel from the border crossing, which was nice.

-Being assigned a bottom cube despite several roomier top cubes being available. -No hot water in the men's shower, which meant everyone sharing the women's shower -Coming back to the hostel and seeing the federal police leaving. -Going into the bathroom to have another guest tell/warn me about how he's leaving because of an argument he didn't understand -Being stopped and frisked by police right outside the hostel -Noise and lights all night from border traffic and police harassing other people

Cons: Crazy slow check-in. Nobody spoke any english. The Hostel wasnt clean. There was no hot water available for the entire 4 day stay. There was no water at all for 2 days (which meant no bathroom use at all. No free breakfast as advertised. There was a poo sitting in the toilets (uncleaned for 2 days). One of the staff members was smoking in the toilets. Staff members woke me up at 10pm to check the breaker behind me pillow. I left the bed and he crawled over my bed with his shoes, Avoid!!
