Because you are making a Group Booking, there are additional Terms and Conditions that apply. Please read them and click 'I Accept' below to continue with your booking

General Group Booking Terms

By making a group reservation through Hostelworld.com you agree to the following terms and conditions as set by Hostelworld.com and as set by the hostel in question.

  • In order to make a group reservation on Hostelworld.com it is necessary to pay a deposit. The balance is due directly to the hostel according to their payment conditions.
  • The booking deposit is non-refundable.
  • Please note that any cancellations must be notified directly to the hostel at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival date, unless otherwise stated in the hostel's conditions.
  • Hostelworld.com are not responsible for changes or amendments to your reservation once it has been processed. All correspondence with regard to changes to your booking need to be dealt with directly with the hostel.
  • Cancellations for reservations must be made directly with the hostel and must conform with the individual hostels cancellation policy (see below)
  • It is your responsibility to pay the balance of your accommodation cost to the hostel in accordance with their payment conditions (see below). Failure to do so may result in your reservation being cancelled by the hostel.
  • Individual hostels may have special booking conditions relating to group stays, please read the hostel booking conditions carefully before making your reservation.

Hostel Specific Terms & Conditions

The remainder of the amount due will be charged to your credit card on arrival. Should numbers or room selection change, the per person deposit times the number of people who actually travelled will be deducted from the total accommodation charge levvied by the hostel.

Cancellation / No Show & Reduction in Numbers Policy

All cancellations must be written and sent via email (info@hostelcasacolon.com). Any cancellations must be made 7 days prior to your arrival for a fully refundable payment, otherwise it will result in a one-night penalty fee per tent booked.

Additional Terms and Conditions

Pets are not allowed
If the group are under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
For every 16 people paid you will receive a complimentary stay.

Additional Info:

This is not a Party Hostel, even if we have 2 bars. It is not allowed to be extremelly noisy or disturbable.

Any cancellations resulting from agreement to these terms and conditions under false pretences will result in loss of deposit.

Property Description

Hostel Casa Colon is a beautiful colonial house in the 50s, with an architectural design typical of the period, with artisan hand carved cedar.

Located in an excellent tourist and commercial area with easy access to services (banks, ATM machines, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, gas stations, shops, transport, etc)

    Very good for an over night or two. Very central location. The restaurant on the main floor is great and so is the free breakfast with the private room. Will be staying here again when in San José

    Very friendly staff, comfortable, clean room, plenty of hot water, great location to walk to central San Jose. Good internet, TVs in rooms. A very good restaurant with reasonable prices. Not that many fellow travelers- still slow due to covid. I would definitely recommend Hostel Casa Colon to my fellow travelers.

    Only downside is they don’t give you a key for the front door, so you must ring the bell and wait for a response, which would be fine but many times there is no staff at the front desk so you’re ringing and waiting for 5-10 minutes just to be let inside. I was also trying to call the phone to get someone to let me in but that was fruitless. Kind of sad to pay for a room and then not be allowed to access it very easily.

    Really nice cabinas close to the city. It was really clean but unfortunately the bar/ restaurant close is really loud and played music till midnight! Can’t fall asleep even with earplugs. Also I got electrician the shower so be careful and do not try to change the water temperature.

    I stayed there only for 1 night. I took the private room. It was clean, bed was OK. I didn’t really got out of the hotel. It’s not really a Hostel vibe but I would recommend to stay there for 1 night if you’re in San Jose.

    It was okay for a single night's stopover. The staff didn't speak English and wasn't at reception most of the time. Breakfast was good but there was not AC in the room as stated. I didn't see another guest other than the one I had to allow inside because no staff was available to answer the doorbell.

    The staff was awful, they spoke not one word English. Additionally they were very unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The bathroom and especially the shower was really dirty with mold and hair… However the rooms were big but the bed not comfortable at all. Overall we can’t recommend the hostel.

    Do not stay at this place. I reserved a room 2 months in advance but they gave me whatever they had available at the moment I checked in. There is no receptionist at all and I had to deal with the restaurant server who was too busy to assist me. I reserved the Superior single private room. I got a room that was located in the service area, with no window. To access the room there was no key, but a PADLOCK, and there was a bunk bed in addition to my bed crammed together in a tiny space.

    I was quoted $25 for airport shuttle and got charged $50 by the driver, reception wouldn’t help me sort it out. WhatsApp the person that quoted me $25 and got no reply My bathroom was awful, dirty and black mould. The staff were not helpful. More interested in the baby showers that were going on. Left after 2 nights it was so bad even though I paid for 4
