Property Description

Hola! Hello! Hallo!
We are looking forward to meeting you soon at Cascada Verde Hostel in Uvita, Costa Rica!

Our hostel is like a huge tree house, welcoming guests from all over the world to relax and enjoy our facilities:
Plenty of comfy furniture is provided to get some rest while travelling.
We have a really big communal kitchen, fully equipped for everyone's use.
You can spot Costa Rican wildlife right from one of our terraces and enjoy our stunning jungle (+ a bit of ocean) view!
But please note: We are NO party hostel and lights are turned off at 10pm ;-)

We, a German family from Berlin, realized our dream to live in the jungle and are happy to share our home with you.

Here is some hopefully helpful information about directions
and useful tips for your stay at our Hostel by the Waterfall...

Please note:

- Our reception is open from 8am to 9pm.

- We accept cash and credit cards but have to charge a fee for card and PayPal payments.
You can pay in both currencies: Costa Rican Colones ₡ or US $ (or sometimes EUROs).

- We have a big and fully equipped kitchen for everyone's use at our hostel
and we serve a delicious breakfast for $6 per person.
Basics like coffee, tea, salt, sugar, soy oil are also provided.
(Cooking is possible between 6am and 9pm.)

We recommend buying your groceries as soon as you arrive in central Uvita
because there is no proper supermarket closer than the SP Supermarket downtown.

Of course there are good restaurants nearby but you'll have to walk at least a few minutes to get there.

- Our hostel building is pretty open: Ceilings are not closed and everything is made out of wood.
Which gives it a very special atmosphere and that's why most guests love it here
but please keep in mind that privacy is - let's say: limited.

- Traveling with children:
So sorry but due to security reasons we can not host children at all at our property.

- We have dogs and cats.
We need them to keep unpleasant visitors out.
We just hope you are not allergic or scared...
And that's the reason why we can not accept your pets, sorry!

- Yoga classes are offered by arrangement at our upper terrace deck:
Please sign in with reception if interested (yoga $10pp).

Important note for reservations longer than 5 nights: We will require a PayPal payment.

What to bring:
- It gets dark up here - please bring a flashlight!
- Between April and mid December it's good to have an umbrella.
- Mosquito nets are provided but you can also hang your own.
(Luckily we don't have many mosquitos...)

Please keep in mind:
As you hopefully know we are located in the jungle
and yes, there are bugs up here! Not many but some.
It can happen that you see a snake or a scorpion.
It does not happen very often, because they don't like people,
but it is a possibility... So far nobody got hurt ;-)

About whale-watching-tours here in Uvita:
Please check the whale season months if you only come to see whales!
As far as we know whales are here from mid July to mid October,
hopefully coming back at the end of December and staying until February.
Naturally, things can change so please contact us or a tour operator in Uvita
before you book your accommodation!
By the way: Dolphins are usually around all year round
and the snorkeling around Caño Island or hiking through the Corcovado National Park is great anyway!

A general tip for Costa Rica:
Bring a copy of your passport!
There are often police controls and they might want to see your passport -
but if you go to the beach, you better bring nothing more than a towel and swimming gear -
there is many small thievery Costa Rica, especially at the beach.
That's why it's better only to bring a copy of your passport when you go out...

Of course you can call or email us for further questions.

See you soon at Cascada Verde!
Safe travels!

Loved it! Had flight delays & missed a bus stop, so ended up arriving late/past reception closing. I let them know I would be arriving late and they were very understanding and accommodating. Super friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful scenery, wish I would’ve had more time to explore the area!

Had a brilliant time staying at cascada verde. The view from the balcony is amazing - the perfect place to relax and read when the afternoon rain has started. The treehouse vibes of the hostel is really cool, it does feel like you’re staying in the wild. Julie and the rest of the staff are really helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend cascada verde to anyone!

Basically a big jungle treehouse! Right near the waterfalls and surrounded by wildlife and good restaurants! Great if you're looking for a very chilled vibe as lights out is at 10pm which suited us 👌 We stayed an extra night because we loved it here, great big kitchen with everything you could possibly need for cooking, thanks for having us!

It was a great place to stay as a solo traveler. I met so many amazing and welcoming people. The staff is very kind and helpful. The location is absolutely gorgeous! Pictures do not do it justice. The walk to town is a bit of a haul but doable and a beautiful walk. I would definitely come back

Overall I really enjoyed my stay at Cascada Verde. It’s about 15 minutes walk from a big river with natural pool and small waterfall where you can go for free. You can ask the staff about it! I will say that for the rooms it’s a bit hit or miss. Rooms in the secondary building and in the basement of the main building are a bit shabby and not as nice as the dorms in the main building. But still comfortable and clean. Staff was super helpful!!

Very beautiful, great location if you want to be surrounded by nature. Kitchen was large and well equipped. Could definitely use more bathrooms given the amount of beds. Some staff were helpful but others not so much- gave minimal help and also gave us wrong instructions about bus schedules and where to catch them. Overall though nice hostel and beautiful scenery.

Hostel is very far out of the town but if that’s the jungle vibe you want then it’s great. The views from the hostel are insane!!! The main house is amazing but if your unlucky to be staying in the other house, the you are basically staying in a cow shed with mosquito nets . The toilets and showers there were grim and the 3 bed dorm was also grim. The beds were damn. The mosquito nets were filled with holes and honestly couldn’t wait to get out of the bedroom. Recommend staying only if you get a bedroom in

As previous reviews state… everything is all well and good if you are staying in the main house but if you’re in a dorm in the “shed” it’s filthy, the rooms are so damp the beds are wet and all you can smell is the mould. The actual hostel is nice with a big kitchen and jungle vibe. Owners and staff incredibly rude and unhelpful. The damp room was affecting our breathing so we asked to leave but they would only offer a partial refund as “damp should be expected if you book a cheap room”.
