Hostel Condesa Chapultepec is more than anything else - a house. A historic - in - the - family - for - generations, 3 story building with a (9) person dorm and 1 or 2 private rooms. One bathroom for ^mixed dorm with bathtub divider creating two showers. 2 Small toilet stalls but I fit. Private bath for private rooms. Compact authentic local city living. Could be cleaner, could address many issues of others. The owner is maybe getting on in age jaja but it’s his house.Talk with him to be happy

    Good

I've stayed in many hostels. This was one of my least pleasant experiences. I woke up with insect bites, I suspect bed bugs. The shower was so cramped I didn't want to use it. There's a bathroom for women very close to the men's dorm, though the women are all a floor up. I don't know if they have a bathroom up there. The wifi was almost useless. No comfortable place to set up a laptop. My bed had a lamp and outlet, but neither worked. I once fell down because there was a step I didn't expect.

    Good

I arrived to a locked door with no one answering the doorbell of listed cell phone number, three other travelers already frustrated and in a panic because they'd been calling the number for a few minutes by then. The four of us decided to cut our losses and get a hotel together, my addition to the group a welcome way for the three to save money. I called one last time to see if anyone would answer and a man did. He said he'd arrive in 30 minutes.

Arrived to CDMX on time. Found my way to the Hostel by metro. Followed google maps to the location. I was making perfect time. Everything was going without a hitch. Then, no answer. I called. I What's Amped. I knocked. I rang the doorbell. Nothing. I decided to go to lunch and wait it out. I finally got a response. I went back, still took to long to answer the door. After that, the experience was standard.

Lack of privacy, dirty, beds not made and with hairs, bathroom smelly. I’m thankful for my stay, still I wouldn’t recommend it right now for anyone. I think they have to improve in order to receive people, or lower their prices a lot. I’m writing this for them to improve because the location is fantastic and it could be such a nice hostel if they actually focused on cleaning bathrooms and bedrooms. Hope this helps.

The location is great that’s the only thing that’s good about this place. I’m not a fussy person either but it’s hard to be comfortable here. The hostel is just dirty and the toilet/showers are tiny and unclean. It’s hard to get washed because of the space. There is no way to access the property to check in until after 12/1 FYI that caught me out. We had issues with rooms being over booked and the owner would not help with a extremely bad customer who made everyone else leave.

The hostel accepted the security deposit but when I arrived at the hostel, no one was there to let me inside. I called the number listed on the front door, but the person on the other end of the phone hung up on me and stopped answering the phone.

I normally do not give negative feedback. However, there was trash everywhere, bathrooms disgusting, beds unmade, and no accountability or organization. While cheap and well located, as a young traveler woman I was extremely uncomfortable here. Owner was not there despite several calls to reach. I was eventually let in to find the state of this unkept and poorly designed place. There was an elderly man horrifically coughing up things the entire night and I slept in my mask and freezing cold.

Squalid and dodgy. The man at the reception was completely drunk when he arrived - he wasn’t at the hostel, left me waiting in the rain in the night while out and about. The room he gave me was dirty and squalid. I insisted for another one and got one at top floor which was OK. Rooms don’t have keys nor security locks - the man said ‘I am the security’… Zero trust, I wasn’t comfortable at all. Morning after, I paid him cash and he kept the change saying he didn’t have any… Avoid at all costs.
