Established in 2000 as one of Prague’s first hostels, Hostel Elf maintains its eventful vibe and keeps floating on the waves of a real backpackers mood. Our biggest pride belongs to our terrace patio and common room where you can chill out with other travelers. To enhance one’s communication abilities, we sell Czech beer at the 24/7 reception.
We are a totally independent hostel, all of the staff are employed full time, they have a great knowledge of the local area with good recommendations of local bars, parks and landmarks.

The interior is decorated with modern art paintings and the outside terrace has mural graffiti artworks. If you are artistically gifted, or just an art enthusiast, you can beautify part of our fence with your national symbols or the flag of your country. We have over eighty of them hanged here with the best ones being Canada and South Africa so far.
The music played is mostly reggae, punk rock, drum and bass and old-school hip hop depending on the shift and weather.
Looking forward having you!

Hostel Elf is a charming hostel in the district of Zizkov, It has an alternative vibe with a friendly atmosphere, full of like minded travelers.
Included in your stay is free buffet breakfast, unlimited coffee + tea and a free BBQ.

Please note that we do not permit guests age 40 and over to stay in our dorm rooms but you are more than welcome to stay in private rooms. Thanks for understanding. View House Rules

Nicest showers I have ever seen at a hostel. Staff did a great job accommodating people's needs in a very busy/chaotic weekend. I've never seen so many late check-outs and early check-ins and the staff coordinated all of these on the fly to make each person just a little more comfortable.

The hostel was very nice and great for solo travelers, the porch area was great for meeting people, cheap beer in the reception and a free BBQ and breakfast. This is by far the most hostel I've encountered for this price! Also extremely lovely and helpful hosts, lots of love to you Johanna and Helene.

We had a great time in Prague at Hostel Elf. It is a good environment with the cheap beer and nice outdoor/patio space. Feels like a treehouse! would probably be more fun and social if the staff organized events like games or beer tastings etc. Compared to other reviews we certainly did enjoy our experience but it did not match up to the hype the way we thought it would. Fans in the rooms would help in the summer heat. Overall kind staff and we appreciated their informative and friendly style.

    Very Good

Hostel was fine, and clean, however it is not really a party hostel, quire relax ans quiet. The day staff girl was really nice but the evening chap was Bascilly quite rude and not that friendly. Think he realised it afterward and came to apologies witch made it okish. Saying hi please and thanks would make a long way.

    Very Good

I am pretty sure this hostel has manipulated its location ratings up somehow. It should be nowhere near a 70% location rating. Compared to most competing hostels this one is the furthest from most things anyone would care to see in Prague. It is at least a 20 minute walk/transit to see anything worthwhile. Also the “Czech dinner” is a joke. It is just a hot dog and small slices of bread. Maybe it is a Czech dinner from the depression era, but not worth eating in lieu of a real meal.

Hostel ELF says

We've run this hostel for 12 years so I think we're still one of the 'real' backpackers' hostels, not just a hotel-style place made to look like a hostel. Eighty percent of the beds in our hostel are in dorms. Our hostel is also a small gallery, full of unique underground art by young Czech artists. Each spacious room has original decor. Along with our free breakfast, in the summer we offer free BBQs three times a week; in the winter we do free dinners and pasta night. We also sell cheap beer (70 cents for 0.5L) and we offer free tea and coffee all day long. It's ideal for real backpackers travelling around the world.
I recommend that people visit the Palac Akropolis. It's known as a centre of cultural events in the area. Hana, Manager
