Property Description

Hostel Humanity is located in the Mexican fishing village Puerto Morelos, 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport and 10 minutes from the Caribbean sea. The hostel built in 2016 has a capacity of 34 persons with 5 dormitories and 1 double room. All our bedrooms have their own private bathroom and private toilet, we offer linens and towels and for some of the rooms, we have the air conditioning. We also have at Hostel Humanity a swimming pool and 4 different common areas which are the garden, the lounge, the hammocks area and the roof top terrace. Moreover, we offer WI-FI access, coffe, tea & fruits at breakfast time. You could also use the common kitchen.

Puerto Morelos is a great option to spend vacation in the Riviera Maya. First of all, the airport is 20 minutes away from Hostel Humanity, located near the main bus station to rapidly get to the transportation and travel within the Riviera Maya to discover Cancun (30 min), Playa del Carmen (25 min), Cozumel island (50 min) Akumal (beach to swim with tortles – 1h), Isla Mujeres (1h), Tulum (1h15) ; Sian Ka’an (ecotourism natural reserve – 1h30) - Valladolid (2h) ; Holbox island (2h00), Chichen Itza [for 760 with hour all inclusive tour] (2h), Merida (3h), etc. Secondly, Puerto Morelos offers you a true and unique Mexican experience, because unlike Cancun and Playa del Carmen who have grown up a lot and are very touristic, Puerto Morelos stayed a small fishing town where everybody know each other and it really feels like you are in Mexico, because there are not that many tourists and even less a hotel zone like in Playa del Carmen and Cancun.

In Puerto Morelos, besides enjoying your Hostel Humanity and all its great humans to meet, you have all kind of activities such as snorkeling (for 300 pesos only) or diving on the coral reef of the Caribbean beach located 10 minutes away from the hostel. You also have the botanical garden, Extreme adventure for quad and zip lines experiences, beach clubs, restaurants and bars, but you also have the famous Cenote road where you can enjoy swimming in those natural pits which is a very unique experience in the Riviera Maya. We could give you the best prices for your activities and for your information there are around us, a lot of small restaurant where you can eat for 30, 40 pesos.

We have a capacity of 34 persons with 5 dormitories and 1 double room. All our bedrooms have their own private bathroom and private toilet, we offer linens and towels and for some of the rooms, we have the air conditioning. The beds are equipped with a personal locker, plug and light. We have three dormitories for 8 people whose 1 with air conditioning, two dormitories for 4 people whose 1 with air conditioning and 1 double room with queen bed.

Valliria was such an amazing host! I highly recommend this hostel based on her hospitality alone. She ensured the room was cleaned daily, was able to give directions to the supermarket, bank & some of her favorite restaurants. She was also available 24/7, even in the middle of the night for emergencies, though she wasn’t needed as this little hostel is safe and secure; I felt comfortable walking through the city alone as a solo female traveler. She is a gem, hope you stay and get to meet her!

We enjoyed our stay and appreciated all the help and advice from Sophie. Her story of courage and determination to create this dream hostel of hers is totally inspiring. Thanks.

Really enjoyed my stay in the hostel and Puerto Morelos. For me the hostel was an ideal location, an area with local people, lots of cheap food options, supermarket etc. And I enjoyed a nice walk to the beach and the main tourist area which is also nice but more expensive restaurants and more tourists. The hostel is very nice and relaxing, hammocks and seating areas plus free coffee and water, good WiFi. Great staff that made me feel comfortable. Would definitely come back again.

It was a pleasure staying at this little hostel outside of the hustle of Cancun. Valeria was so nice to talk with, has great advice, and keeps the hostel and rooms super clean everyday. I loved waking up with the songs of the birds (lots of them in the area) and seeing the sunset from the rooftop at the end of the day. Strongly recommend if you are looking for a quiet and cheerful place from which you can visit the area ! (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, ...)

Overall a pleasant place to stay, the vibe is relaxed. There was water available and a small kitchen to use. In general, it is a very basic accommodation, the bunk beds were a bit aged and the mattress and sheets old. Close to the shops. I felt safe here as a solo female traveler.

    Very Good

The hostel is spacious, dorms clean, well equipped kitchen, super convenient location close to cheap eating in Colonia and 8peso collectivo to the beach. Needs some minor maintenance eg. light not working in toilet and some lockers broken. There isn’t much of a vibe, but PM is very chilled so if you’re wanting to party you’re better off in Cancun or Playa anyway. I’d stay there again :)

    Very Good

The staff here was *not* friendly. We booked the place online and when we arrived an hour later, the woman said that our roomed was already booked by someone else. She still accommodated us but her energy was not friendly or inviting. We were confused about who to talk to when we first arrived and, seeing our confusion, she walked by and told us we needed to ring the bell on the wall and walked away. We did and she reappeared minutes later? Couldn't you have just told us you'll be right back?

Hostel has been taken over by new management. Only time will tell if this a good thing. However one thing is certain change is coming. Also the story behind the hostel is now redundant.
