Valladolid is a small and calm Mayan and colonial city of 70.000 inhabitants. It is located in the north centre of the Yucatan Peninsula, only 30 minutes away from the monumental Mayan ruins of Chichn Itz.. It is a good base to rest after visiting the Mayan zone and its authentic cultural expressions. Valladolid and the region around it have some of the deepest and most spectacular natural wells (cenotes) of the Yucatan Peninsula.

An old, large colonial house, is located in Parque La Candelaria, 3 blocks from the bus-station and 2.5 blocks from the Central Park.

In a safe and familiar atmosphere, it is the home that you need to enjoy your vacations calmly. The staff are the owners. The inner patio, with its natural garden and exotic trees, offers a great space for you to cook, eat and have a siesta in the hammocks, next to the birds song.

We provide dormitories and private rooms, a completely equipped kitchen, cable- television, board games, bicycles for rent, uo-to-date tourist information and of course the colonial Parque La Candelaria just in front of the hostel.

Other attractions in and around Valladolid:

In addition to the wonderful archaeological site of Chichn Itz, the ruins of 'Ek Balam', located to 29 km, and 'Cob' to 59km. Cenotes (underground rivers in caves): 'Dzitnup', to 20 minutes by bicycle, 'Samul' to 150 mts of the Dzitnup, and 'Zac' to 4 blocks from the Hostel. Grottos: Balankanche Cave, to 34 km, close to Chichn Itz. Franciscan Convent of San Bernardino de Siena, 500 years of antiquity and constructed on the vault of a cenote, located to 7 blocks from the Hostel. Colonial Churches: San Servacio, Santa Lucia, Santa Ana, San Juan and La Candelaria. San Roque Museum, in downtown, 3.5 blocks from the Hostel. Ra Lagartos Ecological Reserve, to 104 km from Valladolid, where it inhabits American Pink Flamingo and a varied wild fauna.

One of the best hostels I've ever been to! The location is great, just 5 min away from the main ADO station and close to everything else. The staff is very nice, warm and helpful. The room I stayed in was a bit small but not a problem, the best part of the hostel is a gorgeous garden in the back made from different sections with colorful chairs and decorations, like a small, well kept jungle with a kitchen and washrooms outside. Perfect place to chill during a hot day! Best hostel ever!

This was my third time staying at Hostel Candelaria (twice in 2015 and now once in March 2020) and I had another fantastic experience. Comfortable dorm and lounges, clean facilities, colourful spaces, beautiful garden area, hammocks and outdoor kitchen/washrooms, good Wi-Fi (although did not work in the female dorm), and a social, welcoming and laid back atmosphere. The location was on a quiet square/park and was close to the centre of Valladolid (a few blocks). Loved my stay here!

Best hostel breakfast I’ve ever had. Clean rooms, some of which have AC. Overall very good hostel. It was fairly quiet when my partner and i stayed there, so not a party hostel if that’s what you’re looking for. Will stay again!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this little hostel. This place is family owned for multiple generations now and it feels like home. The staff and owner were great and always helpful and smiling. The bikes you could rent were in top condition ms the facilities great. The dorms are basic but it's sufficient and the vast outside area is incredible. Breakfast was delicious and the information provided a huge help. I'd stay again. It's a great place from which to explore Valladolid.

Very nice hotel at the heart of the city. Easy to walk everywhere from there. The bus station is very close too. Facilities like showers and toilet are very simple but convenient. It is not a luxury place, but everything is done with taste and the breakfast is really worth the price. I will definitely go back there!

We only stayed a night here on the way from merida to holbox, but it was lovely. The free breakfast, freshly made pancakes, was a nice change. Comfortable beds, and an amazing garden social area. AC was cranked up too high so it was a cold night's sleep. But besides that, staff were really helpful, we arrived quite late and they handled it well.
