Valladolid is a small and calm Mayan and colonial city of 70.000 inhabitants. It is located in the north centre of the Yucatan Peninsula, only 30 minutes away from the monumental Mayan ruins of Chichn Itz.. It is a good base to rest after visiting the Mayan zone and its authentic cultural expressions. Valladolid and the region around it have some of the deepest and most spectacular natural wells (cenotes) of the Yucatan Peninsula.

An old, large colonial house, is located in Parque La Candelaria, 3 blocks from the bus-station and 2.5 blocks from the Central Park.

In a safe and familiar atmosphere, it is the home that you need to enjoy your vacations calmly. The staff are the owners. The inner patio, with its natural garden and exotic trees, offers a great space for you to cook, eat and have a siesta in the hammocks, next to the birds song.

We provide dormitories and private rooms, a completely equipped kitchen, cable- television, board games, bicycles for rent, uo-to-date tourist information and of course the colonial Parque La Candelaria just in front of the hostel.

Other attractions in and around Valladolid:

In addition to the wonderful archaeological site of Chichn Itz, the ruins of 'Ek Balam', located to 29 km, and 'Cob' to 59km. Cenotes (underground rivers in caves): 'Dzitnup', to 20 minutes by bicycle, 'Samul' to 150 mts of the Dzitnup, and 'Zac' to 4 blocks from the Hostel. Grottos: Balankanche Cave, to 34 km, close to Chichn Itz. Great hostel. Lovely staff and atmosphere around the place. It is quite small which I find it is a good thing as it made it so easy to meet other friendly travellers along the way. The garden is great and gives you a lot of seating options whether it's raining or sunny. Location is great, only 5 min walk to the centre with lots of nice stuff around. AC in the room is very cold though but I'm sure it can be changed if you speak to a member of staff. Highly recommend and thanks for the stay!

Very nice hostel with good breakfast and good facilities. It’s a little cold in the nights because of the AC but over all it’s very good hostel.

Great hostel, big breakfast and great natural vibe (not one of the forced "everybody has to be happy while we playing music and selling drinks" vibes): a good place either to meet people or having a good time by yourself if you like. By that the guests were a good mix as well in terms of heritage, age... The guys at the reception are doing a great job as well. I recommend asking for a towel - it's free, they just ask for a deposit.

Pros: clean beds, decent sized rooms, huge kitchen, free breakfast that was yum, showers, location, cleanliness, staff. Cons: Our room was super hot, only one ceiling fan, no fan breeze if your on the bottom bunk. Our room had no fly screen so a few mozzies got in. Bikes need baskets. I would highly recommend if you can get an AC room. Make use of the staff, super helpful with restaurants and tailored made bike routes to see the cenotes.

Really liked it! It was a bit quiet because of low season but still nice. The garden is amazing to chill and hang out and everything is very clean. Can only recommend.

Located near the ADO bus station and the main plaza. Everything is within walking distance. The breakfast here is so good and has options for people with dietary requirements. Lots of useful information in the lobby of the hostel. Very colourful and is a great place to chill out and meet people. Not all rooms have AC (so need to think about that when booking).

This is a lovely backpacker hostel is central Valladolid. The kitchen is fully equipped and every night there were groups of people cooking dinner. There is free drinkable water available in the kitchen. The wifi only worked in the common areas. The common areas are well taken care of. the showers and bathrooms could use an upgrade as they're a bit run down. They could use mosquito coils in the evenings in the common area. I did see two cockroaches in the kitchen so don't leave food out.
