Wow, what a great jungle hostel! Amazing staff, Ryder and his crew did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. Kitchen to cook in, lots of open air places to hang, and a free pool table. I suggest you do the horseback riding! Can't wait to come back, thanks Lazy Crab!

I loved my stay at Lazy Crab!! Ryder made it feel like a home away from home. It is a colorful space with lots of different zones to hang out in. Generally good vibes from all of the other travellers staying there, and the staff & volunteers. Pure and fresh tap water direct from the mountain... so absolutely safe to drink! It is located in close proximity to the best part of the island, with many good restaurants and beaches nearby.

I had a great experience at the Lazy Crab. The staff was super friendly, helpful, informative, and responsive. My bed was comfortable and the ambiance / location is great - lots to do, lots of common areas to chill out, conducive to meeting people, lots of good restaurants nearby. The hostel was for the most part clean however there were roaches crawling in and out of the bathroom drain - definitely a side effect of being in the jungle but a cover on the drain would have been nice.

They offer tours to both volcanoes, guide is excellent. Facilities are alright, why does the kitchen close so early? My room only had 2 outlets and they were for the fans, and a lot of bugs

    Very Good

    17 Apr 2019
The hostel is quite run down and basic, but it was cheap. There are a few different chill out areas with hammocks etc and the breakfast they served was good. We tried to book some activities with the staff on reception but they weren’t particularly knowledgeable of what they were selling which wasn’t helpful

I came here based on recommendation and wanted to leave almost as soon as I walked in. The place was full of bugs, rooms were super crowded and hot (no a.c.) and the bathrooms were disgusting a f smelly. The kitchen was available for use but I honestly felt everything was dirty, including the fridge. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms and there was a lot of construction going on. The location was close to Ojo de Agua and some other things but there was no atm or places to eat or a store to buy food.

Not what we expected at all. The location is great for hiking the Maderas Volcano and going to San Ramon waterfall. The kitchen was super dirty and the fridge as well - other guest kept leaving dirty dishes. The beds were hard and it didn't have any windows, so NO ventilation, super HOT. One shower had leeches and the other had fleas, the water went out for two full days so we could not shower. Our group named the hostel "The Crusty Crab". They gave us our money back and we left.

My friend has BED BUGS bites after staying at that hostel. We were 8 in a really small room with no ventilation we were cooking during the night. All 4 of us passed the worst nights of our life at that hostel. The showers... my sink open to half the power is more useful than this! You had to stick to the wall to have water but there is bugs all over the walls. It is the worst hostel I have ever been in. DONT GO THERE!!
