Old Ottoman house right in the middle of the Old Town. Upper dorm has fabulous views at anytime. Terrace to watch people below, river, opposite quarter of Old Gorica. Staffed by nicest family imaginable. Berti the young manager will help you in any respect, has relaxed personality, nice to talk to. His father is retired gentleman and currently a poet but speaks mainly French no English. Mother is very lovely person as well. Breakfast fresh local food. Quiet place, no TV in communal lounge :-)

Burti and his family was super nice. Small dorm with bath in dorm. The views were awesome of the ottoman window houses and the river. The food was xcellent and restaurant close by and promenade. Steep walk to castle but worth it!! Burti, of course offered to take us!! Bus station close by easy to navigate. There is a hotel magalem so don't be confused. You have to look for the wooden sign up the steps for the hostel. Great breastfast Burti! He also let us try the local liquor Roki.

Our stay at Hostel Mangalem was very pleasant, mainly due to the wonderful staff that made the atmosphere super nice and made us feel taken care of. The location is great, close to the bus and a lot of the different sites and for me it was very extra special that we could stay in one of the historical houses of Berat. Thank you Berti and family for everything!!

A nice little hostel in the middle of the UNESCO quarter and within a walking distance of the main sights. Really nice owner (his father is lovely too!) who gave us tips on the city etc, and the dorm was nice too. Facilities a bit old but full of character. Great and quiet stay.

Great place! Comfortable and quiet. I only spent a night here at the end of my holiday but if I had the time I would have stayed longer. Great location, comfy beds, very clean, hot showers and the manager is super friendly and welcoming with hot coffee and Raki ;) Very tasty and good value restaurant next door too. Definitely recommend =)

The guys canceled our reservation without letting us know. I had to call 1h before getting there, to find out that he had booked us somewhere else, at lucioc guesthouse. He also made a mistake on the hostelworld advertising as we had booked a private room at 8€ per night which didn’t exist finally. we had to lose a lot of time and argument with him to collect part of the difference between Lucioc Guesthouse and his... anyway he tried to sort thing out at the end but it was just a bad experience
