Showers are cold, and the club upstairs makes it impossible to sleep until 2am. Otherwise, great location and friendly staff.

We stayed in a double here on floor 5 opposite the kitchen at it was so noisy at night with people drinking there! We moved to a dorm on floor 2 and were much happier! The breakfast is great but wouldn't recommend the hostel restaurant. We were jet lagged and had dinner there the first night, the food wasn't good and the waiter came over and complained that we didn't tip him a full 10% which made us feel really awkward. We should've just said we didn't think the service was that great!

I reserved the private queen bed with private shower. It’s small, not bad for 2 people but it got the job done. The fan in the room was COVERED in dust which would cause me to become congested every night. The shower was fine but there was something wrong with the sink, I discovered that if I put any kind of liquid (water, soda, mineral water, etc) the little drain hole located directly below the sink would start to omit a disgusting, almost unbearable, odor. Other than that it was perfect.

Pros: pretty unbeatable location, nice rooftop bar, hot water in the sink (super rare for Mexico) Cons: Dorms had barely any space, they were too tightly packed. Wifi is pretty weak. You have to make the bed yourself and strip sheets when you leave (In most other hostels the staff do this themselves)

Good locations, nice roof top bar for sunset with nice music and great views. Free breakfast was good. Little English found it hard to book transport from Mexico City to Oaxaca. Tourist office attached and weren’t able to help either.

[IF YOU’RE BACKPACKING THEN I’VE BEEN TOLD MANY TIMES THAT CASA PEPE IS MUCH BETTER FOR THAT VIBE] We came over new year and found the hostel to be incredibly impersonal. The staff have no desire to make sure your time there is the best it can be and they don’t organise any activities which is a shame because on arrival it was clear it had the potential to be a really fun hostel. The bathroom in our dorm was shared with another room and it wasn’t cleaned once during our stay.

This hostel is closed during the corona pandemic. Unlike other hostels they have yet to modify their page on the website booking system. After doing so I received a confirmation email, thinking all was ok. Four hours en-route to mexico city i discovered another email cancelling the booking, leaving me desperately scrambling around to find accommodation for the night, as the bus I was on passed into and out of internet connectivity.
