Property Description

Welcome to our FIFTH YEAR of business! Run by two backpackers, Hostel Polako is the place to be if you like to hang back and take in a town's atmosphere. We’re proud to show you why Trebinje has made us decide to never leave. The hostel has tons of places to chill out in, whether that’s on our big comfy couch in the sunny common room, barbecuing out on the stone terrace, having a chat on the balcony, or playing NINTENDO 64 in our game corner. Here at Polako, we know that a hostel is not a cheap hotel or a house with a bunch of rooms—it’s a home for travelers. That means our main priority is to create a social atmosphere where you can meet and hang out with other travelers. We’re proud to run a clean, cozy place that you’ll never want to part with. Our fresh, homemade pancake breakfast is free, and we have regular family-style dinners. And, of course, we offer Wi-Fi and free coffee and tea, free bed linens and towels, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a laundry service. One of my favorite hostels I have ever stayed in. Trebinje is so amazing and they make us so accessible with information posted as well as a great map with awesome recommendations. The house is chill and has great vibes. There’s homemade lemonade, wine, and craft beer. I enjoyed the breakfast and the couple who owns it is cool and helpful. You really gotta stay here.

Made a last minute decision to stay at Hostel Polako for one night on my way to Split, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. The atmosphere is super chilled, which is exactly what I needed, and all the volunteers and fellow guests were really friendly. The location is superb, just a short walk from the centre of town, and the facilities / laundry service etc were perfect. Had such a laugh for the limited time I was here, and would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Never before was I greeted to a hostel with a bowl of homemade soup and a slice of homemade pumpkin pie! Says it all. Very homey. Great common room. Not much bathroom space though so plan your visits wisely :)

If you get the chance to, do not miss their village dinner! A gorgeous authentic and local experience. You are taken to a nearby village called Lapja where Teo and his lovely family welcome you for dinner. Everything single ingredient in the all you can eat feast is grown or made by them, including the rakia and wine! They also cater to vegans and vegetarians. After a beautiful meal, they will teach you some Bosnian dance. I will be back in Trebinje just to eat at Teo’s!

Nice quiet little hostel. It wasn’t very busy, so there wasn’t much happening, but it was a nice relaxing stay!

If you're looking forward to having a nice chill, relaxing time in a low key town you'll love this place. Unfortunately it was a bit too quiet for me. It seemed to be more of a pass through town, so most people weren't staying very long to make friends.

Spacious lockers and good breakfast 🥣 2 showers and toilets and plenty of hikes to be done in the area for which all the info is provided by the hostel. When I was there it lacked a little bit of atmosphere, everybody seemed to do their own things. Was alright for 2 nights but I wouldn't have stayed longer.
