    Superb

I've stayed here a couple of times when I've visited Toronto and loved each time! The staff is very friendly, it's always clean, there are plenty of bathrooms/showers open for use, a nice lounge area to work on stuff or just relax, and it's near everything you'd need! Would definitely suggest this hostel.

    Superb

The staff was very friendly and gave me two free towels. There was soap in every bathroom. Most hostels where I've stayed there is never soap and you have to pay $1 per towel. My room was very nice and quiet with a flat screen, microwave, refrigerator and double windows overlooking a quaint street lined with Victorians. If booking online beware of a small surcharge when converting money. Given Hostel Toronto's modest prices this is not a major issue. All in all, I would return here.

    Fabulous

The staff were friendly and helpful. However, i had requested a bottom bunk due to difficulties that I have with coordination and balance. I had made the request twice prior to my stay and was told it wouldn't be a problem since there was only one top bunk in the room that I had reserved. However, when I had arrived I found out that all the other beds were taken, and that I had to stay in the top bunk for my first night. Other hostels have reserved a bottom bunk for me.

    Fabulous

My stay was odd. The gentleman who checked me in was super helpful sorting out a problem with my booking. However, something was wrong with the heating in my room. I was completely comfortable and fast asleep but it seemed to be a big enough issue that they came into my room 3 times to try to fix it before 8am. At one point they just left my door wide open. Earlier start the next day but they were cleaning the bathroom at 7:45am. Just a bit odd and mildly inconvenient. They're very nice though.

    Fabulous

It’s kind of in the dodgy area of town (but if you’re like me and don’t mind that, it’s totally fine, I’d just rather warn you!) It feels mega safe as they lock the doors and looks very welcoming! The only thing for me was that there wasn’t a locker in my room but otherwise, standard beds, great kitchen and bathroom facilities.

    Very Good

    01 May 2019
Lovely location, clean building and friendly/helpful staff! But 'No Alcohol or Drugs is allowed on property' - $100 fine supposedly. There's no music or and the pool table costs $, so the common room is very quiet and the hostel has no real atmosphere. Essentially - perfect for good sleeps, catching up on work or reading books. Top location for adventures into Toronto, but don't be expecting any fun hostel parties or easy mingling.

    Good

The hostel staff was very polite and willing to help. Other than that, I would say the facilities in most respects were rather inadequate. The building is indeed old and could have had a unique character, but as it is, the feeling is rather negative and the atmosphere cold. The access through Carlton is perfectly fine, but some of the southern neighborhoods should be best avoided, especially at night-time. I am sure that with the necessary care and investments, it can greatly improve.

    Good

Staff here were very friendly. But the room I was in was on the lower level, and there was only one window facing a wall outside which meant no natural light coming in. Felt like a dungeon so not great for spending long periods in. The common area is okay but small.

Location is good. The place has potential but it's just not inviting, I didn't want to spend time in there. It's poorly decorated, there's no sign outside, no mirrors in bathrooms, no lockers in the dorm rooms(!)...I'd read all these complaints in other reviews when I booked; most of them are really easy to solve if they pay attention to what their customers are saying, but seems like they don't care. What a SHAME! I wouldn't recommend it.
