We had a simply amazing stay here. The communal area was beautiful with a good kitchen and possibly the best views in Manuel Antonio overlooking the pacific ocean sun set with plenty of hammocks. Pure bliss! However, the highlight of our stay was Juan Carlos! He was an absolutely incredible host and some became a cherished friend. He helped us with EVERYTHING and made us feel fully at home. The place wouldn't be the same without him! Epic value for money all round!

Juan Carlos has always welcomed me at Vista Serena. Feels like home to me. The place has a wonderful view and on 3-5 min walk to the bus and very close to the market as well. Will come back again and again.

Many girls staying there felt uncomfortable by the staff, locaion means it has a great veiw but also means you have to get the bus there and back - its not too expensive maybe arohnd $0.50.

This property has a lovely terrace, with a great view. That is probably the only selling point for this hostel. The hostel was dirty, I had blood on my bedsheets and what looked like sick on the wall next to the bed. The hostel also feels cut off as a single female. I had read previous reviews about an employee being creepy with female travellers. I did not experience this, but he did tell another single female traveller about having sex with guests in the showers. As a single female I’d stay elsewhere.

This hostel is in a fabulous location and has stunning views of the ocean and sunset. However, it's incredibly dirty. The kitchen is particularly dirty. There was cat poop on the floor in the kitchen and no one cleaned it up until late in the afternoon. The refrigerator is full of spoiled food. Every time I opened it, it smelled so bad that I wanted to barf. The sink is often clogged. There are food crumbs on the counter. Dirty dishes piled up in the sink and on the counter.

This hostel does have an incredible view. However, the building is fairly run down. The bathrooms were very unevenly cleaned, some were fine and others were filthy. The showers were always full of sand and dirt. But the biggest issue with vista Serena was the management. The primary manager, Diego, was fine. However, the person most regularly in charge during our stay, Juan Carlos, was one of the most unprofessional people I’ve met while traveling in hostels.

The guy who runs this place is an absolute creep who pesters all the women! He’s also not helpful at all with information about the hostel and the surrounding areas. We had no water one day to shower and no gas for another so nobody could cook. There’s also dead bugs absolutely everywhere! Rooms don’t all have AC like hostel world states so it also gets pretty hot at night! There’s also 0 security for the place so anyone can walk in and out of the common spaces. Definitely visit Manuel Antonio, just don’t
