Overview

Hostel the Globe Center is the spot in Amsterdam for sports lovers. Open until 3am (5am on weekends), our sports bar is the biggest in the Red Light District. You'll find eight TVs and two big screens so you and your crew won't miss the big game, whether it's the Super Bowl, European or Premier League. Come in Sunday to Thursday for happy hour, and as a hostel guest you'll get a 20% discount at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Basically, the only time you'll need to leave the bar is to sleep! (Or you could just cat-nap on our outdoor terrace in summer.)

Location

We overlook the historic canals of de Wallen, the oldest part of the city. We're a 6-minute walk from Centraal Station, where trains come in from Schiphol Airport in under 20 minutes. Though we're really close to all the main sights – Dam Square is 9 minutes on foot and Bloemenmarkt (the flower market) is a 16-minute stroll – our neighbourhood is super peaceful for when you want a breather.

Rooms and Dorms

All our rooms have en-suite toilets and shower rooms, so no need to wander down corridors when you've got a quick turnaround in the morning. Choose from private rooms and mixed dorms – they all come with free bed linen and security lockers. If you need a free loaner towel or want to hire a hairdryer, just ask at reception.

Extras and activities

As well as the ever-popular sports screens, you'll find two pool tables and a darts board at our on-site bar if you feel like a few friendly matches of your own. You can also rent a bicycle from us if you're heading out to a famous Amsterdam coffee shop. Research the best ones using our free Wi-Fi, or grab a free city map and soak up some great info from knowledgeable staff at our 24-hour reception desk.

We had 8 people so we got an 8 per. private room, was nice and clean. All bunk beds with small lockers and two small tables. We shared a bathroom with the floor. I would bring shower shoes. Check in and out was easy. The one compliant we had was that the people next to us kept harassing us. During the day they knocked on our door several times and at 4-5am. They were a group of drunk men and they were aggressive so it was scary and we didn’t want to open the door that late to tell the staff.

The hostel was in a great location, super close to the main train station and along a canal. The problem with the hostel was that there are no lockers in shared rooms, so I was very stressed that my possessions may be taken. The rooms were super clean and the beds were comfortable. There was not a shower curtain in the bathroom so the entire bathroom would get wet. I stayed in a four-person room (4 twin beds) and it was very tight. Overall, the location can't be beaten and I would recommend it.

This hotel is conveniently located near the station and this is why we booked it. But beware, it's located in the heart of the red light district and as a result it is very noisy at night with drunk people screeching and talking all night just below your window. The room is really no thrills, it's basically a dorm, with absolutely nothing apart from the beds and a tiny bathroom. No carpets or rugs, no TV, no pictures on the wall, just basic, prison-like cell. Ten euros deposit for a hairdryer.

The private room we received was not clean. The sheets and bedding was old and dirty and had hair on it, the washroom too was not clean, had trimmed hair and dirt in the sink and an unclean pot. the room door did not close properly and we had to bang it to get it to close. when we complained at the reception, the cleaner was sent a day later to clean and even then he just made jokes about it. The location is good, it's at the city center and around a lot of good spots..

Feel I have wasted my money staying in such a hostel. The staff did not help at all in many occasions, they seem to be completely unfriendly! Not to book during cold season since the heater was very bad quality! Otherwise one-night stay would be quite enough as the location is perfect to reach quickly every leisure facility in the city.

It’s one of the worst experiences for me. Security: they have locked doors leading to the whole building but they open it for any one without making sure that he is staying! cause they have to many shifts of receptionist. keeping Baggage: Take care it’s fake ! they allow you to keep it on a place behind fire outlet but on your responsibility! and the receptionist told me “If the fire man came they might through the bag in the street” ! Receptionists are so rode and inflexible to changes!

Worst place I have ever stayed, majority of the staff were rude and unhelpful. We were moved rooms 3 times and not in the one we originally arranged to be in when we first arrived. Ended up booking a hotel elsewhere after only one night there. Do not recommend this place at all, really affected our experience of Amsterdam.
