Hotel Espana was amazing! The property is so pretty and the common area/pool was nice to relax in. The staff were very helpful when we had questions about how to get different places. We had planned to stay later in the week but got stuck in Santa Cruz (make sure you check the ferry schedule) and they got us a room for the night. Super clean rooms, A/C works great and 3 min walk from the ferry dock. Close walking distance to many food places, shops and attractions.

I stayed 3nights at Hotel Espana. I was very well satisfied. The room was quite big, very clean, same for the bathroom. Concerning the staff, they were very kind, helpful and comprehensive. We also rent a bike with them, which cost much less than in every other shop. In addition, the hotel is very well located, not far from the harbor, the Darwin Estacion, Tortuga bay, all the souvenir shops or also little restaurants at $4 the menu !! The only black dot is the wifi : none after the 1st floor.

A good budget hotel right in the center of town. Location is great! More of a family vibe, not a hostel vibe. Don't expect good wifi, nowhere on the island will have fast or reliable wifi, but when sitting in the lobby I could always connect. They gave me a $5 discount per night when I extended my stay during the week, which was highly appreciated!

More of a hotel than a hostel. I stayed in a private room. Very clean, the front desk is helpful in giving suggestions and answering questions. Location is absolutely perfect, close to everything. Only downside was there were a lot of families, lots of kids running around not a lot of solo travelers. Not a good atmosphere to meet people but great in all other areas.

Nice place, a bit more upscale than my normal places, I had a nice single room that worked out well for me. clean and neat, nice pool, a bit sterile, but this is a hotel.

Rooms are clean and tidy and come with AC. Nice lobby area to relax in. Internet in the islands is sketchy at best, but so utterly bad at this place that most of the time it's unusable (and despite assurances, clearly nothing is being done to improve it). The cafe on the corner has a good breakfast and serviceable internet.

Hotel Espana was relatively clean. Housekeeping did a wonderful job of changing sheets and towels. The AC was wonderful and very necessary in the Galápagos. The WiFi was poor and did not extend into the hotel rooms. The hallways can be noisy at night.

The hotel was clean and in a great location. WiFi worked in lobby but didn’t reach to room. Staff were friendly but when unable to find that we had paid a deposit, or to split the bill. We spent an hour in the evening after arriving, trying to resolve it. Despite being able to speak Spanish this took an incredibly long time. Also, the hotel was under construction. We weren’t advised before our stay. It began very early in the morning, before 7, and was incredibly loud in the room.

Prospective guests should know that this is exclusively a budget hostel and should really only be a place to lay your head. The main reason for my low rating is the staff. Some of the staff was kind/helpful, but our first encounter (checking in) was very unpleasant and the lack of otherwise redeeming factors made it difficult to look past that. The woman checking us in was rude and generally unhelpful. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you care about customer service or amenities.
