    Superb

Great little inn/hostel, our first encounter with a staff member was awesome; lovely Japanese hospitality. It had modern yet authentic feeling walking in to the entrance; with the shoe changing area and free to use umbrellas. My partner and I went for the larger room as he is tall and we had 2 big suitcases to fit in the room too. It was an interesting experience sleeping on tatami mats and futons. Bathroom was tiny but expected because Japan. Good WiFi too! Location is tricky but felt like a local

Lovely and kind hostel staff, but they don't speak english. Best location, wonderful town with some places to eat a ten minute walk away. They have a nice indoor onsen. Room was spacious, comfortable, clean, well decorated. Loved the vibe, would come back again.

The staff were so friendly and helpful! Recommending places to eat and get the best experiences from the area. Laundry service and bicycle rental was so cheap as well. If you come here please rent the bicycle! Kyoto is very flat and we managed to put two days of our itinerary into one day just by using the bike instead of walking! Also if you just want the "feel" of traditional living, as opposed to a hotel, you must try it at least once just to experience it!

    Fabulous

Beautifully decorated traditional Japanese style hotel. The rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. Perfect if you just need somewhere to stay and aren't planning to hang around in your room all day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free wifi works well. If you're coming straight from the train station, take a moment to work out which side of the station to exit from (you should exit from the north side), otherwise you'll be adding 10 minutes to the walk.

Quiet location about 10-15 min walk from JR Station/bus terminal. Family room fair size. A little overpriced but seems to be the going rate in Kyoto.

    Very Good

We stayed at Ikoi-no-Ie as we wanted to experience true 'Japanese style' accomodation. The front door has a code to enter, except it was constantly left open so not very secure- anyone could have entered the building. 10-15 minute walk from Kyoto station. It's like a mini hostel, so you share a bathroom and toilets etc. Everything very clean. Walls are extremely thin and you can hear everyone talking word for word in the next room or hallway. Good value for money! Staff happy

    Good

The room smelled terrible and was also located directly above the smoking area so double whammy. There was also only a single shower for about 6 rooms. While the price was not so high, it was certainly too high for the stinky room and single shower.
