Property Description

The Ivy is the longest-running, Western-run budget guesthouse in Siem Reap. The original Ivy first opened it’s doors in 1999 and has been catering to budget travellers ever since. The Western/Khmer family environment provides a unique and authentic Siem Reap experience. Famous for its Friday Tapas and charity quiz nights, it's a great place to meet expats and locals.  Relax in our lounge, enjoy a meal at our fantastic restaurant, and discover the ‘Kingdom of Wonder’.

The Ivy is owned by Vannary—a well known chef and restaurateur in Cambodia—and Kathryn, who first came to Cambodia as part of the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie crew. Kathryn fell in love with The Ivy and made great friends with Vannary and her husband Karl. Sadly, Karl passed away in 2011 but together Vannary and Kathryn continue his Ivy bar legacy. Kathryn still works in the movie industry and will happily chat about the Tomb Raider and other big films she works on. Vannary is the author of the fantastic cook book Vann's Shared Secrets, which features home-cooked Khmer recipes and her take on Western cuisine.
The guesthouse has 20 rooms (6 single w/fan, 12 double w/fan and 2 double a/c) all with en-suite facilities.

The guesthouse has a locally renowned restaurant and bar, balcony chill out area, lounge, pool table and high speed wifi throughout. Rooms are simple and clean and provide a perfect place to stay for travelers keen for an authentic experience of Siem Reap before the rapid development of recent years.

The Ivy provides guests with clean linen, towels, a laundry service and bicycle rental as well as first class advice for guests on local tours, excursions and onward travel.

The Ivy hosts regular events including a fantastic tapas evening with everything on the menu for $1.50 View House Rules

As they say, the people make the difference. The staff were awesome. The food delicious. Location perfect. Room quiet and comfortable. 5 minutes walk to the noisy and vibrant pub district. Management hosted great theme nights. Highly recommend this guesthouse.

Staying at the Ivy Guesthouse was one of the highlights of my trip. The staff really made me feel at home, they even let me use their printer free of charge! Also, great selection of Khmer and Western food at a reasonable price. Would recommend to anyone looking for a warm and sociable stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Ivy House. The location was great! Just a few minute walk from markets and the river. The food was also quite good. Our non-AC room was fairly hot and only had small windows so it didn't cool off much at night so we upgraded to an AC room which was perfect. The staff at Ivy house was so helpful and nice, even hailing auto's for us and answering all our questions.

Great place to stay. Excellent location, friendly staff. Relaxed. Only criticism would be detail with cleaning. Things like light switches etc were in a need a of regular wiping.

Good place to stay! Close to pretty much everything. The bar in the front closes early so don't count on it for food. Good room. washroom was fine, don't expect a lot. Great fruit grocer near by!

Location is spot on, far enough away from the noise that is Pub street, but still close enough to walk to in a matter of minutes. Staff is fabulous and very helpful. Excellent value for money Rooms are clean, but some of the rooms only have cold water coming from the shower. I would definitely come back if visiting Siem Reap again.

Very chilled hostel, great to relax as it was the first stop on our trip. Good location, close enough to walk to markets, restaurants, pub street etc. Also can organise trips to Angkor Wat with a great Tuk Tuk Driver. However it does attract an older crowd in the evenings so maybe not the best if you're looking for a party atmosphere.

Lovely staff, great air con, top location, cheap beer, nice quiet street just tucked back from the river. Strong WiFi. I think, for the price, the room was a little bit basic and the bathroom was a poor effort. You win some you lose some. Overall, though, good place to stay for 2/3 nights.
