I had a really amazing stay here! The staff is super nice, the other travellers are too! Super friendly you can make friends and talk to people even if you’re alone! It’s a very clean hostel, the kitchen is a little bit small if there’s a lot of people cooking at the same time but it’s really manageable. There’s a supermarket across the street so very handy! it’s next to a train so very easy to travel around the city in no time! Would really recommend it to everyone. The best was the rooftop!!

Excellent location, just steps away from the subway. Staff were nice and helpful. Hostel is quiet, not a party hostel which worked well for me. Nice first place to stay in Australia.

$24 dollars a night. Can’t go wrong in the middle of kings cross. The receptions made me and my other friends so welcome I wish they wasn’t at work because they are super friendly and nice. Her name was rafi she spoke very good English for a French girl. The only bad point couple toilets blocked and there is a wicked view of the city for a hostel it’s wicked haha. I’m from Tasmania. I’d recommend all my friends to come there. As the two girls at the desk done a wicked job because!! I’ll be bak

Nice hostel but nothing special. Nice lounge area with computers free to use. Good sized kitchen with everything you would need. Our room was a four bed and was way too small, hardly enough room for one person! Lots of long stayers when we were there so it was hard to make any friends, but all friendly. Kings cross is not a nice area. There’s a lot of homeless and prostitutes, and s** shops along the road of the hostel, luckily the hostel is right next to the train station.

Good place to stay, clean, staff are good, kitchen facilities were good. Only issue was the room was too hot as couldn’t open window and no aircon. Apart from that was very good!

Good: common areas are very big and spacious! felt very comfortable hanging out in them. Location next door to Kings across station making Bondi and CBD short trains away! Rooms tidy. Poor: all ages hostel (usually okay) but we had an elderly roommate who turned lights out at 9pm and made us get up lights on at 7am. 4 communal mixed gender toilet/shower cubicles per floor isn’t really enough and are grubby. No windows means rooms are pitch black so you can’t get ready without waking everyone

Cheap hostel but not super close to any of the major sights in Sydney and not the cleanest. It did provide free breakfast which consisted of toast and cereal. All the people we met at the hostel were interesting and seemed to be living there rather than vacationing or traveling. They split up our booking of 4, with 3 people in one 4-bed room and 1 in a different 4-bed room. There are also a LOT of stairs to get up to your room.

Jackaroo is good value for your money/city hostel. The rooms are very cramped with not enough space, there are no windows and it makes it very dark. It is also right above the Kings Cross train station so it didn’t feel very safe. Some of the staff were helpful and friendly while others kept their headphones in while we were trying to check in. Overall not a bad place but some improvements can be made.

Bathrooms unclean, smelly and the doors did not lock. Facilities included a toilet and shower in the same room. The electric did not work in one of the toilet/bathrooms - 2 out of 4 bathrooms on my floor did not lock. The bathrooms were not gendered and you had to run the risk of someone unknowingly walking in on you while you shower, which I didn't think was ideal. Nice eating area, staff reasonably friendly and events were going on in the hostel if that was something you were interested in.
