Easy to find and near to train station. The location is great and the hostel atmosphere is perfect for solo backpacker like me.

Hostel is very close to the metro in the famous Gion area (which is an expensive area to eat just keep in mind). Clean. Good showers and hair dryers to use. Like other reviews say, it’s quite inconvenient if you need to arrive or need any help outside of the checkin time. No social atmosphere because there is only one tiny area to make a coffee.

Super awesome location—our room had a view of the river. Also there's a pretty bar downstairs. The only drawback is that there isn't much of a common space and no real kitchen, so if you're looking to save money by cooking, that might be difficult. The common space can really only hold around 4 people at a time, so isn't ideal. But that's fine if you're spending most of your time exploring Kyoto!

Beds were comfortable and washroom facilities were good! No common space at all and the whole thing is located upstairs away from the staff that work in the Sake bar below, so pretty inconvenient if you need to ask for help or anything regarding the hostel facilities (I.e. laundry). Overall though it was okay and served its purpose.

Decent place for the price, would recommend. No real common area for people to hang out if that's what you're looking for. Though it's joined with a fantastic sake bar on the bottom floor.

The hostel's location is perfect: east side of the Kamo river; incredibly close to Gion-Shijo station, Yasaka Shrine and many more attractions in Kyoto. The room was okay, a classic set of bunk beds with no curtains (hence, no privacy at all). There was no acutal common area, the overall cleanliness was "alright". But I'd definitely come back for how central it is.

The location is great, close to the touristic Gion region, but also to the local canal venue where the locals go drinking. The hostel hast no good common area. The room i was was not big, and the bunker beds were not of the best design (for example there is no lamp on them, which could help a lot). otherwise is ok with showers etc.

This place was in the perfect location, but the common room was small and there was no microwave! Not the best surprise. The showers and sinks weren’t cleaned properly, as there was hair and mold all over. The bed was comfortable enough, but this place is literally only for sleeping. Hard to get work done in bed, and the common room is tiny and uncomfortable to sit at for long stretches.

This was a pretty basic hostel, covered all the bases, but we personally had a rough time as we were kept up at night by both the street sounds and our fellow bunk mates (sirens, loud partygoers, very loud snoring etc). It's in the gion neighborhood, very well connected, beds were comfortable but not too much privacy as no curtains (just bare bunk beds)

Great location and easy to get to near the subway station. Staff were super sweet. Facilities are basic. No privacy curtain in dorm rooms. The sake bar downstairs is great but the common area for backpackers is abysmal. It was clean though.
