This hostel was basic and clean. While $45/night is on the higher end for what I typically spend on hostels, it was in a great location, close to the buses, trains, food, and CVS. There is an AC unit in the room which allows more sound in so it is LOUD, but not the hostels fault. CVS has earplugs if you forget yours and it made a huge difference. The room I stayed in had its own bathroom with a walk in shower, toilet and sink. There was also a water bottle fill up station in the hallway outside

I stayed at the jazz hostel during the Macy’s thanksgiving day parade. Very convenient location. Walking distance to Central Park and anything else you’d like to see. Subways are very accessible. The staff was great, Ron was particularly helpful with my baggage as I was checking out. He let me keep them at the front desk for a while while I went and got lunch before my flight. It came cheap, but was worth every penny. Beds are nothing special but you won’t be spending much time there anyways.

All in all it’s a nice place to stay if you want to be in manhatten for 1-3 nights. There’s no outside area so if you want to hang outside or smoke a cigarette you gotta do it on the busy street just in front. Door lock of the bathroom was broken but since I stayed in a female dorm and there’s a door in between and also another one excluding it from the hallway with card only entrance it was okay. The common area as well as the kitchen is not really inviting nor well equipped.

The location is convenient but it was hard to find the entrance since it is very low key. The reception area is not shown in the pictures but it looks very dry. The lounge area is also looking different from the images, mostly old people take the seats leaving you nowhere to consume food or just relax. They are renovating the place which I didn’t know. Overall decent! The entire room areas were clean & pretty. The mattress was thin and I could feel the bed frame. For being a hostel 6/10!

    Very Good

I really loved the hospitality from Yancy. She went out of her way to help with an extension I wanted until 10/09. I definitely see hear as head of hospitality at a 5 Star hotel 💯 The hospitality received from a staff member on 10/07 at 4a in the morning was different however. There was a very loud group in the hallway until 6a. I called downstairs at 4a to have a staff member come and speak to the guests and was told that "it wasn't a hotel." Meaning, there are no rules regarding quiet hours??

    Very Good

I’ve stayed at Jazz Hostel Columbus Circle once before and it seems pretty run down now. No heat in the rooms, they use little space heaters and still it’s pretty darn cold. The shower never really got hot. Everything is just cold and dark (very little light) and broken. The only electrical outlet that worked was across the room. The kitchen/common room is sad but clean, they make drip coffee in the morning which is nice. I will say the staff are wonderful, very helpful & friendly.

The hostel is very hard to find, the entrance is just a white door between a Wendy’s and a McDonald’s. The room we stayed in was very dirty and the cleaning lady didn’t clean well. The floor and furniture was sticky and there was hair everywhere in the sink, shower etc. I didn’t get any towels or blankets, I had to ask 5 times to get extra towels and a blanket. The guy on the front desk was very unkind and unhelpful when I asked him about my payment that hasn’t been processed yet.
