Property Description

The Jellyfish Hostel is very centrally located 2 min from New Market and close to main station (5 min by tram, 10 min by foot) in the old town of Rostock.
It is situated in a beautiful listed building which is more than hundred years old. The house has been carefully restored after the reunification without destroying its unique character. Three years ago it has been improved for opening the Jellyfish Hostel. Now you find modern bathrooms on each floor, an impressive common room for meeting people and a kitchen for preparing your own breakfast or snack and keep your drinks cool.

The reception is open in summer from 8.00am to 11.00pm and in winter from 8.00 to 10.00pm (a later checkin can maybe be arranged). The new young team consists of travellers themselves, so they will be receptive to listening to all of the problems a guest can have and will probably find a solution.

The Jellyfish Hostel offers a large variety of different room types: There are beds in spacious dormitories with 8 beds, cosy 4 beds and even 'luxury' 4 bed dormitories with ensuite facilities and single beds (perfect also for families!). Privates are available as well, you can choose between single rooms, double rooms and doubles with ensuite facilities.

To stay well informed and connected guests can have free access to the internet either with a PC or by wifi.

If you step out of the hostel you can see the medievil 'Steintor' and the gorgeous 'Stndehaus'. The main tram stops 'Steintor' and 'Neuer Markt' are round the corner to reach everything easily, also the beautiful beach in Warnemünde (20 min). The shopping street 'Kröpeliner Strasse' is starting directly at the New Market. If you turn left it is just a short walk to the harbour. The Jellyfish Hostel is the ideal starting point to explore Rostock and the perfect place to relax afterwords!

Breakfast is not included in the room prices (5,50 Euro per person per day extra).
Bed linen 3,00 Euro per person once extra!

Same day bookings are possible but you need to check in until 10 pm. If you arrive later your reservation can't be honoured. View House Rules

I was there for a weekend , the check in and check out were quite smooth, nice staff, excellent location in the city centre of Rostock, good price, good security, there are lockers for personal belongings in the shared room. The common area is quite back packer friendly where you could find a sofa, TV

The hostel has everything you need and is clean and quiet. The staff were great as well. Had a really long and nice discussion about Rostock and it’s history with him. Location was perfect. I’d recommend it and if I had to stay in Rostock again I’d definitely choose it.

The hostel is fine. It is located in a very old house with high ceilings which I love but it's more of a question of one's taste. The only minus I find is the lack of outlets in the room.

First time for me to stay in a dormitory at a hostel in Europe (2nd in my whole traveling life) and Jellyfish hostel did not disappoint. The property was clean. You have to pay extra for the bed linens but that is ok at least I am sure that they are unused and clean linens. The room is huge so you have plenty of space to move around the room. The common room has a lot of books and game boards and was also clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Whenever I travel to Rostock Jelly Fish is the natural choice. It is cheap and situated in the middle of the city on a quiet side street near Steintor which is on the tram line(s) which take you to the train station and elsewhere. Two things are of importance to note : payment is in cash and this hostel is not at all adapted for the handicapped. Otherwise the facilities are a what one would expect at a youth hostel. They do offer a breakfast buffet. The reception hours should be underlined.

Lovely room with nice beds and friendly and helpful staff. The location is right in the city center and easy to walk everywhere. It took us a while to find a place to park our car because we needed to find another street, but it was ok. Would recommend this place

Unfortunately my stay was ruined by the atrocious attitude of the staff, including being told off by the male owner for sitting in the garden area after 10pm despite being given no info about the hostel on check-in, and despite the patio doors to the garden having been left unlocked after 10pm. I was then spoken to in a very rude manner by the female owner the next morning after I asked a simple question about the breakfast arrangement. This then developed into a major rant. Avoid this hostel !
