From a quality-price perspective, I highly recommend the hostel, however the atmosphere and location could be better. This is mainly due to the fact the JH is very big and hence a perfect place for school classes to stay. When you are a single traveller, you won't find many other travellers to 'hang out with'. On top of that, the school classes can be quite loud in the atrium which didn't bother me too much, but if you are a light sleeper, it might!

Nice view, the staff try hard and the breakfast is good for the price. I don't think I would recommend this to anyone if they have a higher budget available however.

The hostel isn't cheap, at 25€ a night. Rooms are small and cramped. Shower and toilet shared by 8 rather than 4 people as expected. There is no free WiFi. Staff are unhelpful regarding online deposit payments. Would not recommend this place to anyone but the most desperate.

I've stayed at around 20 hostels in the last 2 years and this was the worst experience I've ever had as a guest. I showed up at the hostel slightly before my reservation time and was refused a place to stay in mid Fall northern Germany because they had apparently closed. Even though the desk clerk was still there and noted my bed was still available. I only got in to talk to him because the lock on the door was broken.
