I really liked my stay there. Amazing view, and there were great places to jump in the river just a few meters from the lodge. Rafting tour was worth it, but note that if you’re traveling solo that you would need to find someone else to go with you (min 2 persons). The owner is the sweetest lady that was super helpful with anything I needed, and really just made me feel like I was staying with a relative. It was clear that everyone working there cares about making the place as good as it could be - the cook wanted to know whether/how the dinner could be better and the owner how to better improve the layout, etc. Amenities and cleanliness were better than I expected considering the location being in the middle of the jungle. No complaints about the dorm, except it would be nice to have more power outlets and maybe a trash can in there. Would recommend to anyone, and would definitely stay again.

Highly recommend this hostel! The family are so kind and welcoming and make it feel like a home from home in the most incredible setting. They offer a white water rafting tour with canyoning and it was our favourite tour we’ve done so far in Central America. They also offer meals at a very reasonable price and it was a great to try some traditional Honduran dishes. Honestly do NOT skip this place!

Honestly, one of the coolest locales ever! The hostel is built such that you can walk out to the river boulders and jump right into the river. Beautiful views and great staff.

JLR ticks all the boxes! Incredible views and a short walk to the National Park. Amicable and efficient staff proffering meals and drinks. Amazing canyoning/rafting tour led by a most proficient guide. I hope to return one day as this place is truly an exceptional accommodation.

Great spot next to the river. Rooms are clean, but the lockers are pretty small. Food is okay, could be some more variety in it. Overall great place with nice staff and chill travellers

Clean tidy dorms, right next to the river and just a 10 minute walk from the park entrance. Friendly staff. Only thing was the food was a little expensive compared to a lot of places I’d been and on the first night we were told it would be 180L for a dinner and it ended up being 240L. Not a big issue as the food was very nice just something to bare in mind as there is only one little comedor and a pulpería within walking distance so you are slightly limited with options. Overall a lovely place.

The river lodge is an amazing hostel in the middle of the jungle and directly on a river! The view from the hostel to the river is sooo beautiful! Unfortunately there is no kitchen so you have to order food in the hostel which is very expensive and nothing special! But they have vegetarian options!

Very beautiful scenery. Very nice family ran staff. Biggest downfall here is the food situation. You’re inclined to eat the 3 meals they make for you and don’t have any other options and nothing close by to get food. So when you come here make sure and bring food/snacks. Also definitely do the rafting tour, that was 10/10

    Very Good

Beautiful location, with access to the cangrejal river and pico bonito national park. Very nice and friendly staff and a gorgeous Scarlett macaw that hangs around. Only one bathroom and shower for the 15 bed dorm and no fans so the door is open at night to keep cool, so you get bit by bugs all night. And no community kitchen. The meals they prepare are fairly priced and taste good. Difficult and expensive to get to and from the lodge if you don’t catch one of the few busses.

    Very Good

Good sized private room with large shower. Space to unpack your luggage. The common area overlooks the river with large boulders – it's very picturesque and you're just a hop, skip and a jump away from a lovely refreshing swim in the water. The food was simple and, I thought, overpriced but then that's to be expected in a somewhat remote location like this, which is really what you come for. Electricity is unreliable, again part and parcel of the location. Rustic would best summarise this lodge.
