Kaiteriteri is a rather quiet place in winter but there are still a few things to do and Kaiteri Lodge helps you to find them. Nice little place to stay at with clean kitchen, bathrooms and outdoors. Very helpful and open staff. The pub next to the lodge gives you a good possibility to get to know some of the locals. Would go there again!

Overall the hostel was a great place but the kitchen is far too small to accommodate the amount of people who stay,, the pizza deal at the bar next door definitely helps with this though!

The lodge was very clean however before going to sleep I spent a good half hour killing an infestation of ants that were in my room. Not very nice. There was not much atmosphere, but maybe that’s because I didn’t stay in high summer.

    Very Good

Overall a nice stay. Had a great bar/cafe right next door which was a bonus. There weren’t many toilets / shower facilities for the amount of people that were staying there, had to queue/ wait a long time before I was able to use the facilities. Location was great, right on the beach, couldn’t ask for much more. The kitchen however was very small and lacked basic cooking equipment so was hard to cook here.

    Very Good

The place wasn’t horrible. I came in around 430 and they were already closed down for the day. Lucky one of the employees living there was out and saw me and asked if I needed anything. I purchased a WiFi code from him. However, the wifi barely worked and anytime my phone locked I had to enter username and password. This is the 21st century not sure how this can be. A little too many signs (at least 20) in the kitchen that took away any sort of home feel. Couldn’t beat location though!

Nice location next to the beach and a relaxed bar However dorm room was tiny and bunks not high enough to get bags underneath so the middle section was a mess of bags and clothes. No free WiFi , lots of warning signs around the place and allocation of three bits of cutlery that have to be returned

Definitely not the best hostel I have stayed in... rooms were clean however, kitchen was small for the amount of people the hostel holds and not very well equipped. Showers and toilets weren’t particularly clean at all, at any time of day, not sure when they got cleaned. I wouldn’t return here, I think there is better nearer to Abel Tasman national park!

Stayed here in late June (midwinter) and we were one of the only groups there. We only saw one other person the entire time we were there. We ended up leaving a day earlier than originally planned because we didn’t feel safe and were freezing cold since none of the heating appliances worked or even turned on. You couldn’t lock the door from the inside which was unsettling. Amazing location and can imagine it being a great place in the summer but would not suggest at all for a winter hostel.

The kitchen was gross. Wifi wasn’t free which is crazy since the money you pay for this place. The walls are paper thin, I could hear when someone in the room next door sneezed. There was only one wall socket between the whole room. No mirrors in any room. Just complete disaster.
