Kaktus Hostel Background

Kaktus property has been created by two developers of luxury accommodation in Marrakech who were looking for a challenge. We wanted to create an economical and socially responsible property. Kaktus Property is more than just a simple accommodation for travelers; it is a place of experimentation into sustainable development, as well as a place for artists and culture to thrive.
Kaktus Hostel and the Environment

We are very conscious of our impact on the environment and our global footprint. In order to do this we adopt a number of principles in order to minimize our waste, electrical energy and water consumption. We start with the training and awareness of our staff. We educate them on issues of ecology and attitudes to adopt in regards to reducing our economic footprint. All of our furnishings have been manufactured by recycled materials using a DIY concept converting old useless materials into fantastic new designs. All our organic waste and part of our non-organic waste is recycled, reprocessed or reused. We are involved in many projects in the region for the rehabilitation of natural sites and reforestation and reducing desertification. Finally we are open to other projects with similar interests; if anyone has any ideas as to what we can do we’d love to hear them!

Kaktus Hostel Social Responsibility

We are very conscious about the social responsibility in regards to the quality of life of our staff. Both in their intellectual and personal development, we offer courses in foreign languages and management. We also organise tours of galleries and other cultural events to raise awareness of our staff in art and culture in general

Kaktus Hostel Culture

At Kaktus property we strongly believe that culture is important to make the world more tolerant and just. We are trying to do our best to improve and develop the culture within Morocco. We intend to launch many artistic programs (exhibitions, workshops, film, photography, readings, mini concerts… etc). We are a partner of many festivals within the city and we graciously offer accommodation and support to them. View House Rules

The hostel is the best you can find in Morocco . The cheapest with the best atmosphere and you have the opportunity to meet a lot of new people. Always hot water, great staff, the cook and the cleaner woman (Hanan) is the best and she cooks really nice breakfast, specially the eggs. Also the place is beautiful with great colors. Finally, you can do a lot of stuff through the hostel because there are a lot of excursions like in Sahara etc. Special thanks to the very happy staff: crazy Abdul, Said

Amazing place. Love the atmosphere and everyone is so helpful and friendly. Fantastic location as it is a short walk to the large square, the markets and bus routes. Really enjoyed sitting up on the terrace in the evenings and had superb breakfast and dinner there. Thanks for an unforgettable time!

Really nice staff who tried very hard to make you feel at home!! :) amazing location - everything is easily accessible from here. Great base for exploring Marrakech! Lovely made brekky every morning. Great value for an unbeatable price!! Unfortunately only two toilets and three showers for everyone, but it works alright. It was clean all the time! Just one of the mattresses was very hard and uncomfortable. Although the staff helped with more blankets during cold nights and was always friendly!

Pretty nice little place within 5 minutes of the main market square. Electrical outlets by the beds and secure lockers. WiFi was good. Only disappointment was: I was told they would bring me breakfast before the 7am tour I signed up for, but they never did. Use GPS to get close, then look for the signs posted in the alleyways.

Very friendly hostel, nice guys at the reception. Some suggestions: payment by card and spare hairdryers for the guests. Ps.: breakfast is served too late (9.45).

Kaktus Hostel is highly recommended! The Staff is amazing, always helpful and very nice, thanks to this guys the atmosphere in the hostel is always amazing! I met more than one traveler who came back here for say hello to the guys in the hostel! ( I will probably do the same). The location is perfect, just behind the central square of Marrakech and the breakfest is included (not common in Marrakech). The only bad point were the services, with only one toilet for the entire hostel.
