One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in!! During my stay, it was offseason so there weren’t a lot of guests. I initially booked for one bed; however, the owner Shuji-san was gracious enough to give me a bigger bedroom as it was not being used. Shuji-san was also one of the kindest people I’ve met on my trip. He offered to drive me to the sake brewery for my tour, and also offered to drive me to the train station when I checked out. He and his staff are super friendly and easily approachable!!

We had a great time at the Kanazawa Guesthouse Stella. It‘s well located in the very nice Higashi Chaya district (the old geisha district) and you can rent bikes to see the rest of Kanazawa. Very nice Staff and good atmosphere. Shuji made us feel at home and even took us to see Shirakawa-go. Thank you so much!

The staff was very nice and helpful. I had nice talks with them. The bathroom was very clean. The location was great, especially because it is just next to one of the famous chaya districts and very nearby to a public bath and an onsen, so ideal for if you want to relax in the evening.

Fantastic little hostel. Located in the Higashi Chaya district (the old geisha district) with lots of places to walk to nearby. There's also an area to hike with tons of temples nearby. It's a but of a walk from the train station but the host provided detailed directions to get to the hostel. The owner was amazing! So helpful with discovering the local sites and extremely kind. He even gave me tips for the next stop on my trip. Hostel felt like home and was super clean and cozy.

A short walk to the heart of the Higashi Chaya District - you can go take photos in the morning, before the businesses and the crowds get rolling around 10am. The owner was very friendly, and gave me excellent advice for visiting Shirakawa-go the following day. The ramen shop he also recommended, which was near the hostel, was delicious. The hallways were a bit narrow, but my luggage was carry-on size only. Facilities were quite nice. Had a great time!

Guesthouse Stella is located in a quiet neighborhood of Kanazawa. It's a bit far away from the train station, but accessible by JR bus for those with a JR pass. The owner, Shuji-san, is kind and hospitable. Though we conversed in Japanese, you will not have any trouble talking to Shuji-san in English. The room I got had a bunk bed and just enough room to stand in and laid out luggage, but everything is very clean, tidy, and comfortable. I definitely recommend Stella to anyone visiting the area.

It is not a big hostel and the rooms (we had the one with 1 bunk bed for 2) are rather small, but it is exceptionally clean. The owner was so willing to help and advise us, we even met him on the next day randomly in Shirakawa-go, where he again tried to advise us on his favorite spots... He definitely is the nicest owner of an hostel I have met so far. The location is ok, Kanazawa is not a metropolis so you can reach easily everything. It is right next to the former Geisha district.

Superb hostel. The owner is the main member of staff and is an unbelievably helpful man. He organised and booked our trip to Shirakawa-go (included phoning bus reservations), which would have been pretty much impossible by ourselves. He also gave us a lift to the Shinkansen when it was raining. On top of the hostel being great, Kanazawa is a fantastic city. Having recently got the bullet train station, it's on the rise. A must go.
