I had a great stay at Kathmandu Village House. It is located right at the heart of Thamel, walking distance from a lot of shops and restaurants. The place is beautiful, and the staff are extremely helpful. I visited Nepal in March 2021 and it's quite safe after CoVID. Highly recommend Kathmandu Village House!

Staff is wonderful, incredibly friendly and kind. Stayed in a 6 bed dorm on the top floor. WiFi wasn't very strong in the room so hung out in the common area. Beds are very comfortable. No A/C, multiple fans, so was quite hot some nights. Big lockers with locks provided that could hold 45L backpack easily. Breakfast every morning of omelette, bread, banana & coffee/tea was wonderful. Would definitely stay again.

My second stay at KVH. I don't need a lot of amenities and am happy to give up some comfort for saving money. The bed was sufficient, the shower was hot if I waited for the heat. The wi-fi was suspect. The evenings could get noisy and I felt like I was part of conversations outside the window. Noise didn't last late in the night. They kindly stored my luggage after check-out until I left for the airport. Have stored luggage while traveling outside Khatmandu. Happy to recommend.

The location of this property is great! However, the two older men that are managing are not friendly or helpful at all. They claim to have a travel desk but when we went to ask about local hikes they weren’t friendly at all. One manager 2pac(not sure if that’s how you spell his “name”. Only offered to paid him to arrange a local hike. He was asking for triple the amount just to arrange transportation and guide. I would never stay here again mainly because of the staff here.

Not a hostel, just a rooftop room with 6 beds. Wi-fi was terrible, out of 6 power points only one worked. The bathroom is outside on the rooftop, room very badly maintained. The roof gets flooded and have to wade through an inch of water to get to the toilet. Showers are terrible and very dirty. Can't get hot water after 930pm to drink and have to sit in the main foyer to get wi-fi signal. Not a good experience
