Overview

Kinlay House Cork is both cosy and quirky – the street art outside stretches all the way to the wall murals in the bedrooms. Our lounge area, with open fireplace and comfy sofas, is the place to feel zen, with some Instagram scrolling on our free Wi-Fi (there's also an internet room if you like a bigger screen). You'll get free tea or coffee with toast in the morning (spread that good Irish butter on thick!), which you can enjoy out in our split-level courtyard on sunny days. You'll even have access to the next-door fitness club's gym, swimming pool, steam room and sauna for just £5!

Location

Here in the character-filled neighbourhood of Shandon, you're a 15-minute walk to everything in the city centre and the main bus and train stations. Wander along the riverbank to find artisan coffee shops and traditional pubs serving tasty ales. Right next door is St Anne’s Church – climb the 100-step tower to ring the famous Shandon Bells. To get even more out of your trip, have our helpful staff book you a specially discounted tour to the Cliffs of Moher, Blarney or the Ring of Kerry.

Rooms and Dorms

Check into one of our mixed dorms or a private room, then throw your travel clothes in the on-site washing machine while you settle in. Your bed linen's free, and you can hire a towel for a small fee. Our bright, cheery rooms have lockers, sinks and mirrors, and some private rooms even have their own en-suite bathrooms.

Extras and activities

With the English Market only a 10-minute walk away, you can stock up on treats and bring them back to cook in the kitchen or garden barbecue. Grab a spot on the outdoor terrace decked in colourful fairy lights, or flick through our book exchange library. If you’re heading off late after checkout, our 24-hour reception team can store your luggage for the day – grab a snack from the vending machine before you go!

Really cute location. Exceptionally clean. Nice renovated bathrooms and showers. The man who checked us in was very nice and accommodating. WiFi worked well. 12 bed dorm was separated off and felt more comfortable. No lockers in room (can rent one in kitchen) but there was a large area under the bed to store luggage. Also had free (unlocked) luggage storage room for check out day which was nice

Great location with excellent standard of customer service and overall cleanliness of the hostel. My only really fault with the location was that it was vastly too warm inside at night on account of the good weather. If there was an AC running through the building, then this would be five stars.

    Very Good

The kitchen has no cupboard to store food in except the fridge, there were no labels or pens to mark food with, and the only safe storage is in expensive machine-operated lockers (up to €6 for 24 hours!) that are inaccessible after 10 (locked kitchen area). Beds were comfortable, clean, and the common area was cozy, but I wasn't impressed overall.

    Very Good

The location was alright, the staff were very friendly, the hostel was clean, however the biggest downfall was that the water starts off ice cold and then goes instantly scalding hot and there was no way to change temperatures. We did advise staff about the water however they said something about no one available to do anything while we were there and to try another shower location. No problems with our wifi. 46 yr old traveller and 18 yr old traveller.
