Overview

Kokopelli Hostel Cusco is a unique 200-year-old colonial-style house filled with energy. Combining culture and fun, our hostel has something happening every day: you'll get anything from games, live bands and DJs to BBQs on the terrace and Peruvian cooking classes. Mix and mingle with other travellers on our patio and bonfire area, or hang out in the garden's swaying hammocks – made even better with a couple of drinks! In the morning, a continental breakfast on us should help ease any lingering happy hour-induced headache.

Location

Landing at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport? The easiest way to reach us is to grab a taxi – we're just a 17-minute drive away. If you give us a call we'll arrange to pick you up from either the airport or the main bus terminal, or you can easily walk to us from the latter in 16 minutes. Plaza de Armas (Parade Square), the buzzing centre of the city, is a 5-minute walk from the hostel where you'll find coffee shops and restaurants perfect for people watching and enjoying fantastic city views.

Rooms and Dorms

Our cushy beds have feather duvets in pod-style bunks with their own lights and plug sockets. Stay in a mixed or female-only dorm to meet other travellers, or treat yourself to a private room with an en-suite and towels. Select dorms have en-suites too, and you can hire towels from us. You'll find secure lockers with sockets for charging phones and tablets in all the dorms.

Extras and activities

While we like a good party, we're all for the down days too. Unwind with a game of pool or foosball in our games room – there's also a beer pong table if your team's up for the challenge. Or you can lounge in the TV room with sports on the big screen. We offer tons of freebies, from all-you-can-use Wi-Fi to tea and sandwiches at reception. For something more filling, pop up to our restaurant for a hot meal.

Great hostel for any age and type of group on vacation, although it does cater to more fun evening environment, in the common areas. Large hostel with very clean rooms that are separated from the main rooms and the bar. Different activity every night in the hostel, and within walking distance are tons of restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay here again if my travels took me this way.

Everything you need and want to make your stay in Cusco very comfortable. We had the double bed bunks and the beds were very large and comfy.Only negative in this room was the shower was too hot!! And you couldn’t turn it down! There were other clean and modern showers you could use very close to the room though. Food from the bar was fab and we thought it was great that every customer is able to win a discount of some sort at check in! Free hot drinks too, inc coca which was needed!

Solid hostel. My only issue is that our dorm didn't have a lock on it. Otherwise, it was great. Would definitely stay again as it's one of the best hostels in Cusco.

Really nice hostel, staff speak great English and are so friendly and helpful. The 8-bed dorm was huge and bigger than the 10-bed dorm which was weird, but both had really comfy beds and big lockers. Bathrooms were always very clean and the showers were great and hot. Breakfast is pretty basic but actually really nice (nice bread, jam, eggs, fruit, and good coffee)! The hostel is big with lots of common areas and its own bar, but is also really close to the main plaza if you want to go out.

Some major pros for this hostel include the curtains for the beds, bedside light and shelf, and lockers right at the bed (especially for those on the top bunk). This hostel has sister hostels in Peru that offer discounts, so it doesn’t hurt to ask! They have a fun wheel that you can win prizes from that you spin upon arrival. The vibe here is pretty chill, so a great spot to stay after hiking Rainbow mountain or other treks. Would recommend!

Honestly have no complaints with this hostel. It had a great environment, super close to the city square and they even provided a bagged breakfast if you left to your excursion before their breakfast opened. Would definitely return if back in Cusco.

Kokopelli is a fun hostel—great bar where we could socialize with other visitors, but it was never too loud, so you could get a full night’s sleep. Breakfast was also nice! One complaint would be that there were no keys for the rooms ... all the doors are unlocked. While there were lockers for your valuables, we were more concerned that someone might accidentally come into the wrong room in the middle of the night. Also, no towels provided. However, minus these things, it was a great experience!

Location, security and dorms are amazing. Really good secure system for storing bags before / after check out. However the staff on reception were so rude, so unhelpful and have made me come away with a bad view of Kokopelli. I was never told about having a takeaway lunch if you missed breakfast for an early tour, nor was I told about being able to fill up your bottle for free if you bought a drinks sticker and when I did ask a question they were blunt and unfriendly.
