    Superb

I rarely give perfect ratings. But Upland International deserves it. I booked for four nights in late January and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The staff was friendly and helpful. The dorm wasn't cramped, and the beds were comfortable and clean. Electric heating pads provided really helped with the chill. Great hot water in showers. The lockers are large enough for everything. The restaurant above the front office was a nice place to relax and to meet other travelers. Great place to stay!

Excellent hostel, good vibes, good value for money, bed in the private room was very comfortable. Steer clear of their Stone forest tour - not for foreigners.

Stayed x2. Mainly writing this to single out Molmes and his buddy (can't remember the name -- sorry) at the front desk for helping me book a last minute ride-share down south to get part of the way toward the rice terraces in Yuanyang (remote and not as easily connected area). In Yunnan you really need help from locals or at least native speakers to get around, especially if you go off the beaten track. Also: Cool hostel with friendly staff, all amenities, good coffee, chill common area.

Friendly, cozy, chill guesthouse. Conveniently located not far from Green Lake Park, a bunch of restaurants & shops, and bus stops. The beds and rooms are comfortable, with the little touches that matter--like in-bunk reading lights, and lockable cupboards. I could never get the VPN aspect of their wifi to connect correctly, and the cafe/bar area was too loud for me to comfortably sit in. A public-use computer would've been appreciated. Would stay again.

    Fabulous

Great bar/sitting area with very good breakfasts, salads and vibe! The waiters and all the frontier stuff are very helpful and kind. The dorms are nice - big lockers, comfy beds, curtains (an amazing and simple solution for the light and privacy problem), a reading light, a shelf and a power outlet at each bed. The only reservations are: 1. The room, the bar and the corridors were cold. 2. The shower is located outside the building, so you have to walk outside (sucks if it's raining/super cold).

    Very Good

    01 Oct 2020
The hostel is clean and well located. However, the staff at the front desk weren't very helpful! We asked for advice of places to visit in the city and outside, as well as how to get there and the person at the from desk was not only clueless but didn't really seem to want to help us. They spoke flue English so language wasn't a problem; it was clear that the person was new and didn't really feel like assisting us. The staff at the bar were very friendly though!

    Very Good

Fine, but nothing special. Their restaurant is decent at good prices. Short walk to the park and a few other attractions, and easy enough to get to from the train station. Key cards for the doors and big lockers are always a nice touch. Curtains as well. The place is just really big and kinda soulless, despite a decent lounge area and ping pong table. Would stay again if in Kunming.
