Excellent location close to Parque 5 de Mayo which is a good hub for buses and Colectivos in both directions. I stayed here 3 nights and had the place to myself for all but one night. Very quiet, the staff was extremely helpful when I tried to figure out how to get around (including how to go by public transportation to Cascadas el Aguacero which I can highly recommend!!). Can definitely recommend and great value!

La Casa del Jardin was a cool spot to crash while making your way through Tuxtla, or setting yourself up for a day trip to check out El Canyon de Sumidero. The hostel is actually an extension to a restaurant (or vice-versa) which opens up to the community for dinner, which adds to its overall cool vibe with people coming in to eat and listening to some live music. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, and mosquito nets worked as they should always; with closets for you to lock up your belongings.

This place is great! In a city so hot like Tuxtla; La Casa del Jardin is a nature oasis for you to relax that is very close by to all the transportation to San Cristobal de Las Casas and Cañon del Sumidero. The countless big trees that surround the hostel make you feel like you are in a tropical rainforest. The wooden and brick decoration is everything! Everyones is nice and Romeo the owner is a wonderful host. The place also has cafeteria where they serve an excelent pizza and coffee :)

An extraordinary Hostel with private cabins makes you feel like you are in the woods when it’s located in the middle if the city. The place is rather charming, it usually is also a bar, coffee shop and restaurant. Perfect place to relax and have a good time you can go during the same day to Sumidero Canyon and come back in the afternoon easily with spare time and it allows you to chill right before heading out to San Cristóbal de las Casas. Had a wonderful experience!!!!

One of the most interesting hostels I've stayed! It feels like a jungle tree house. Very cool. Could be cleaner, but not bad. Breakfast is scant, but gourmet and doesn't change. Owner/staff are amazing hosts! Location is good.

Beautiful place with genius loci. Toilets was clean, room was ok. Just people like other hosts was loud without care about other sleeping people. In the morning was breakfast like coffee and pancakes-very tasty. I enjoy that place!

    Very Good

Only for a short stay. You get what you pay, recommended. There is a problem with water at dorm's bathroom. What I never figured out was why the payment went from 79 pesos to more than 120+ a night (that's more than 50%), even adding the LEGAL taxes just can go as far as 19% more, not to mention that in your description and the mail you get from HW says that taxes are included. To me you are charging more. Do the math with another hostels and you will see that your calculations are not right.

This hostel was overpriced for the facilities that it had. Check-in was not a smooth process, you had to rent a towel, and the showers did not have warm water. The room I was in was dusty and the bathrooms also were not as maintained. I get that the hostel is an antique hostel and going for that rustic feel, but it can definitely do more to make sure its guests are more comfortable. One good thing is that it has live music, at least on Fridays when I was there.

Beautiful location which is ideal for visiting the local area. However, the facilities and general cleanliness levels were very bad. There were cockroaches&rats in the hostel, no water for the shower, no toilet paper, flush not working and the staff was unhelpful with the exception for the lady who greeted us. Moreover the staff member was not able to give any advice to visit around. So the hostel was fine as one night base for exploring the city but apart from that it was very disappointing.
