This is a great place to stay while enjoying your trip to Merida. The owner is very hospitable and goes out of his away to accommodate guests. It's close to the ADO Bus Station Terminal, so it's good place to stay if you are planning to visit local Mayan archaeological sites. It's also close to Mercado Santiago and the city center.

Nice and cute hostel in a charming old building. Don't expect anything fancy or posh, this is an old style "real" hostel for backpackers, and this is why we liked it! There is everything you need there, and a lot of attention was paid to the small details to make your stay comfortable. We stayed in a double room with bathroom and loved the colorful interior design. Run by Tio Rafa, a very friendly man that is happy to help you with everything and can give you good and practical information.

This hostel is close to the centre of town with easy access to transport to the best sights and experiences of the Yucatan. The staff gave great advice and guidance about what's on and where to go. They are very cheerful, friendly and helpful. The internet is a bit unreliable especially at the back of the property. Otherwise, it is a bit of a building site as they are working to improve the building the facilities but it is still value for money. I recommend it.

Hi Rafa, can you wear some earplugs/headset when you watch TV? You want to watch TV but not everyone wants to listen to your TV (it is audible all day long from 10am to 10pm). They don't give you the key for the external door, so you have to ask Rafa every time you want to go out. Anyway Rafa is a very nice guy and his hostel is very charming (and old characteristic Mexican house...the real, authentic experience!). Oh and is very very hot as there is no air conditioning. Cheers!

Tio Rafa wants to close the hostel in september and kind of gave up as neighbors are complaining about noise from 10pm on, even when you just talk. The place is not well maintained and toilets are dirty. For hot showers you have to ask to turn on the boiler and also it said breakfast included we had to chose between hot showers and breakfast. The location was perfect as it is close to the ADO and city centre. Tio Rafa is still a very nice guy. Guess the place was amazing at some point in time.

Rafa was lovely and cooked us an amazing breakfast, the place is very close to the bus station and a short walk to the centre. It was very hot however and this was a cool night for Mérida. Also the place really needs a bit of TLC, a lot of unnecessary clutter laying around and collecting dust and dirt. The pool in the back had dirty water and the yard itself was again, filled with random stuff.

Expected a social and well kept place but were rather disappointed as no one was hanging out and the chill area was rather dirty and stuff was lying around. Also our private wasn’t the tidiest but could also be due to age of building. Pool also wasn’t inviting. Rafa may be a nice guy but I felt more welcome elsewhere where my money wasn’t the 2nd thing being asked for. Could be way better if improved for what’s shown on pictures. Wouldn’t chose it again, sorry Rafa
