I really liked the hostel a lot, staff was helpful and really friendly, kitchen use and equipments were good, the rooms are clean and the hostel in general is cozy. The location is good, very close to main street and close like 5-8 mins by walk to Colomb House. The wifi works good in kitchen area and back garden. The only bad thing is wifi doesnt work in the dorm room.

The hostel is gated. There is a buzzer on the top right inside of the doorway. It is 2 blocks from the main street. Upon arrival the staff gave me a map and showed me places to go for everything. Key given for main door and room. The dorm has six beds with each bed having their own towel, fan and plugs. They have lockers and provide locks. Common areas clean. Wifi barely reaches the room. Only one shared bathroom not in room. Great place and laid back.

The staff at this hostel were super nice and helpful. The location was awesome and decent price. It was perfect for me since I only stayed one night and wanted a more quiet vibe. Overall I had no complaints.

I stayed at La Choza in early August 2020 (so during the pandemic). The property host and co-owner was extremely kind, friendly, and is bilingual. I would absolutely, definitely consider staying at this place AGAIN if I return to Santo Domingo. *One note though: the pictures I saw online of the property before I came do not accurately & completely capture the earthiness, airy/breathiness, quiet and simple beauty of the place (particularly the open kitchen facing the pool area).

The place was cool looking and centrally located, but it was hard to find a comfortable place to sit with a book. The inside spaces were way too hot, and the outside spaces just had pallets with pads on them. The room had roaches, as well. It was very loud at night, but that is probably true of anywhere in the Zona Colonial. Francesca was very helpful. The coffee provided was delicious.
