Property Description

Double bedroom on the first floor with a chest of drawers, two bedside tables with lamps, and the option of adding a small folding bed for a third person.

There is wi-fi broadband internet and a digital TV. The window has a view over the countryside. The location is very quiet and peaceful.

On the same floor there is a bathroom with shower, exclusively for guests. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, a common room with an internet-connected computer and another bathroom with a larger, more comfortable shower.

Outside there is a small garden with a hammock and a deck chair, a parking space and a garage for motorbikes and bicycles.

At least one of us will always be at home and available to help guests.

The house is set in the Emilia Romagna plain a few kilometers from Modena. The surrounding countryside is peppered with vineyards, orchards, historical country houses, vegetable gardens, artisanal cheesemakers, and traditional producers of the famous balsamic vinegar of Modena. It is a generous land.

There are a few nearby tourist sights that we recommend:
- The Benedictine abbey of Nonantola, founded in 752 A.D. (ticket approx. 10 Euros).
- The 'Partecipanza Agraria' of Nonantola, an area of fields which is ideal for bicycle trips (free).
- Villa Sorra, between Nonantola and Castefranco, a historical villa with a beautiful landscape garden (free).

And for visits to local producers of traditional food and drink:
- Just a few dozen meters from us is the Antica Acetaia Malagoli, where you can sample and buy traditionally produced balsamic vinegar.
- A short walk away is the Caseificio Serafini, a traditional dairy producing Parmigiano Reggiano, butter and yoghurt.
- A couple of kilometers away in Nonantola town is Cantina Gavioli, producer and seller of Lambrusco with an attached free museum displaying an eclectic mix of old agricultural tools and sports cars.

The area is full of bike paths, so it's easy to get around on foot or by bike. There is a bus from Nonantola to Modena every hour. The bus stop for this service is 1km away. When coming from Modena, ask the driver for 'Borsari'. There is also a bus stop in front of the house, but the bus only comes twice per day. The bus towards Modena comes at 7am, and the return service leaves Modena at 3pm. Both services cost 3 Euros.

Please note:

Amazing place to live the Perfect feel at home Italian experience, Enrico is an amazing host and a fellow traveler that will take care of you like he would like to be taken cared of when he travels. I can recommend this b&b with my eyes closed although far from the city but and easy bus ride away.

One of our favourite places that we have stayed in Europe thus far! Everyone was really amazing! We loved eating together and how the balsamic and cheese facilities were very close. Enrico even gave us a ride when we missed our bus! A truly unique experience, can't wait to go back!

Nice country BnB in an old country house. Enrico and Karin welcomed us and provided tips for what to see in the area during our 1 night stay. Enrico even hooked us up with a fantastic tour with a balsamic vinegar producer. The guests were treated like family and I would be happy to come back and stay longer in the future!

This hostel was the best ever, it was calm and relaxing. We could rest and enjoy the nature. The host (Marco) made us feel at home, he invited us for a lovely dinner and he was so helpful. We felt really good to be there and we would love to come back one day.

Enrico made us feel like family. He opened up his kitchen and allowed us to use all his supplies to cook both lunch and dinner. The place is away from Modena but the bus facilities are good. It’s a beautiful 3km walk to the Nonantola town centre for excellent pizzas and gelato shops. The location of the B&B is beautiful and quiet and one of the best sunrise I ever saw. Stay here to enjoy the nearby vineyard and balsamic vinegar factory and enjoy the quiet countryside.

La Selvatica is an absolute gem! It is located ~20-30 min away by either bus or car from Modena, and simply said, it IMMEDIATELY feels like home. The vibe is incredibly welcoming as Enrico and his family treat you as if you are one of their own. The bedroom was cozy, and felt very secure as a lock is provided for your own personal security/peace of mind, but really, I never felt the need to use it. It was a refreshing change from hostels, and I ABSOLUTELY recommend this experience to all.
