Laekur was a great place to stay. Everything was easy: check in, check out, living, kitchen use etc. There were signs posted everywhere and the staff were amazing. I recommend this place to anyone that's visiting Reykjavik.

Great place to stay! Easy to get around town, grocery store nearby and the cafe downstairs is delicious! Beds were comfy and the bathrooms and kitchen were very clean. Best part was meeting so many awesome people there from all over the world!

Each bunk has its own bedside light and plug socket and shelf. Space to hang items and plenty of windows. Good lock system and lockers - very secure. Lovely atmosphere and great cafe downstairs. Bunks were metal and a bit squeaky, and the plugs made a whiny noise. Otherwise a fantastic hostel stay

Laekur was a great place to stay during my time in Reykjavik. I was impressed by how clean it was, and I had an excellent time meeting people from all over the world. The kitchen was well equipped, which made a huge impact on my ability to save money in such an expensive country. The staff at the cafe were helpful. The hostel is not in downtown, but is a pleasant 20-30 minute walk there. They are strict about their 2pm check in time. When I arrived, I really needed a nap, but had to wait until 2

Check in at the cafe. The kitchen was clean, bathrooms looked clean. The rooms were a good size. It had a cute balcony to sit out and enjoy. Its a good walking distance to everything downtown. I had trouble finding parking near the hostel at night because its all street parking in a residential area.

Washer/dryer were not working the entire week I was staying there. Also, bring your own locker, make sure it’s a small one not a regular combination lock. The locks sold there have the same key. A girl staying in the same dorm as me locked her keys in her locker so I suggested her to try my key and it did open her locker. Location is great, a small convenience store is nearby and walking to the city is possible. There’s also a bus stop across the street to take you into the city.

Horrible! The person who checked me in made me feel so unwelcome, I would have left if my reservation was refundable. When I arrived to my room (a shared dorm), someone appeared to be living there full-time (and was sick.) I managed to switch rooms, but not before being fully interrogated by another staff member. Other than the terrible hospitality, the space is sterile, there's no sense of community, and the key fobs don't work half the time. Save your money and avoid this place at all costs.
