Overview

Feel like a local at Lagan Backpackers, located in a classic Belfast home. Our large, characterful terraced house has been converted into a super-friendly hostel. After we've cooked you up a nightly dinner you can help yourself to free tea and coffee before settling down with a board game. In the morning, grab a complimentary city map and ponder over your itinerary with a free continental breakfast before heading out into town.

Location

It'll only take you half an hour to reach us from Belfast International Airport on the budget-friendly airport shuttle. Once you're here, Lagan Backpackers is a 10-minute stroll from Belfast Botanic Gardens and is next door to the Ulster Museum. The front desk team is more than happy to recommend routes to the famous wall murals and organise trips to Giant's Causeway. Along lively Botanic Avenue (a 4-minute walk away), there's no shortage of restaurants and the all-important Irish pubs for a post-tour pint.

Rooms and Dorms

We have a range of private rooms and mixed dorms for solo travellers and groups of mates. The light-blocking curtains covering each bunk in our shared rooms make sure you get a good night's rest and we always keep the noise down after midnight. There's a book swap going around for when a quiet night in is on the cards and fresh linen is included so you can make up a cosy bed.

Extras and activities

We keep reception open 24 hours a day so give us a shout if you're ever in need of a helping hand. You can store your belongings worry-free in our secure lockers and pick up adapters from reception when you need to charge up. There's no curfew either – in case you can't drag yourself away from the pubs! The whole hostel, including our relaxed communal areas, has free Wi-Fi. There's a dedicated games room and you can choose DVDs for movie night in our cinema room. Or get stuck into a PlayStation tournament with fellow guests.

Localization is perfect. The room was clean. Bathroms is shared between women and men and the shower wasn't so good because didn't work properly. For only one or two days it's OK.

The only complain we have is that we couldn't pay with euros for our staying and since we arrived in Belfast after 5 pm all the post offices were closed. Therefore we had to go through a long proccess in order to pay which gave us a hard time.Other than that the hpstel was very good.

The bedding was clean (the other guest took my duvet), bathrooms not up to scratch and general condition of the hostel is poor. Dirty, grubby and untidy. The kitchen is shocking. I will not return.

I stayed here the end of May, the heating is left on 24/7 so the rooms are like a sauna. There are 3 bunk beds squished into basically a box room which makes it even more of a sweatbox. It's quite a dark claustrophobic building in general. Because the heating is on 24/7 we left the windows open all the time which means you hear the shouting from the street all night long. The staff were very friendly and the location is good. But I wouldn't recommend this hostel.

I arrived at the hostel with two friends to check in and we were really surprised, the photos are totally different from reality, I even showed my cell phone to the receptionist and asked if it was the same place as the photos, how come we arrived 5 hours before check in I asked if we could take a look at the environment, we went up to check, dirty bathroom, the hostel smelled bad, kitchen, living room also lacked cleaning, and we gave up on checking in and managed to book another accommodatio
