Heard of hostels most of my life, but never stayed in one till now. I do not regret the choice, as the description and other reviews did justice to the place, location and staff/service. I am particularly grateful to Enzo, and to his female partner/colleague at the front desk for making the check in fun and flawless, and Enzo in particular for going the extra mile or kilometer in recommending short hikes/walks as well as making my visit to Varenna fit with my tight schedule.

Amazing location and atmosphere! The restaurant is also really great- cheap, good food. The workers are super nice and helpful as well. She is the best! The hostel is in a perfect location because it’s in central Menaggio and easy to get to from Como. It’s also super easy to travel to other towns on the lake (Varenna, Bellagio, etc). Definitely go on different hikes around the lake! Only thing to work on is cleanliness in bathrooms/showers. Pretty good experience overall and worth the money!

This hostel is nice enough. Kind of hard to meet people but luckily I ran into people I knew from previous hostels. It’s a bit run down and was pretty empty when I was there. There was mouse poo on the corner of my bed when I got there which maybe meant it hadn’t been used in a while? It was fine for a few nights.

The best thing about this place was the staff. Very helpful and friendly. Everything else was sub par. Room didn’t have lockers for suitcase (out of 8 hostels in Italy this is the first time) then my room was left open after they cleaned it, open to anyone wanted to steal my stuff. Showers were too small and not private. Toilets were not that clean. Food was great and good prices but Overall leas then average sorry

Good location on the lake but the most run down hostel I’ve stayed in Europe in last 30 days. There are so many nice hostels out there these days. This is not one of them. 3 Big Problems #1Shower fiberglass floors are totally nasty and rusty. #2 The security locker in the room might fit a hand purse. Maybe you can put your wallet in....It will not fit a backpack of any size. Luggage has to stay out #3. Food is very minimal at the hostel and no grocery or mini market with anything a
