Heard of hostels most of my life, but never stayed in one till now. I do not regret the choice, as the description and other reviews did justice to the place, location and staff/service. I am particularly grateful to Enzo, and to his female partner/colleague at the front desk for making the check in fun and flawless, and Enzo in particular for going the extra mile or kilometer in recommending short hikes/walks as well as making my visit to Varenna fit with my tight schedule.

First time hostel experience fantastic location rivalling nearby hotels. The view is it’s main attraction. Basic hostel for a fraction of the price considering the view.

We were offered to move to another Private room (instead of a dorm) and we accepted. The room was in a different building that was located about an 8 minute walk up a pretty steep road. The room had a nice view and also included a decent breakfast at the same building. The cleanliness was not as we expected - the heater had a thick layer of dust, and you could see it didn't get proper cleaning in months and one day my girlfriend woke up with bites all over her body.

Not the best hostel I have ever stayed in! The Peace Lodge is very basic and shower facilities are not great. The bar area in the main hostel is quite nice and the staff were very helpful when it came to information on things to do in the area. Without a doubt the best thing about this hostel is it’s location - near to the water and in close proximity to the ferry to other towns around como

This hostel is nice enough. Kind of hard to meet people but luckily I ran into people I knew from previous hostels. It’s a bit run down and was pretty empty when I was there. There was mouse poo on the corner of my bed when I got there which maybe meant it hadn’t been used in a while? It was fine for a few nights.
